Schobel Posts Top-10 Time at Last Chance Finale

ATHENS, Ga. – The University of Georgia men's and women's swimming and diving teams concluded their home seasons with the final day of competition at the Bulldog Invitational Last Chance Meet Sunday at Gabrielsen Natatorium.
 
Graduate Marie Schobel provided the highlight of the day with a personal-best time of 51.99 in the 100 backstroke final, improving her B-cut time and moving up to fifth all-time in school history in the event. Senior teammate Millie Sansome also posted a B-cut with her prelims time of 52.93.
 
In the women's 100 freestyle, junior Sloane Reinstein wrapped up a terrific February with a personal-best B-cut of 48.25. Later in the meet, Reinstein anchored the Bulldogs' 200 freestyle relay, joining teammates Eboni McCarty, Julianna Stephens, and Callie Dickinson to notch a season-best B-cut of 1:28.59, qualifying the relay for the NCAA Championships.
 
Senior Zach Franklin posted a new PB in the 100 backstroke with a B-cut time of 46.58, while freshman Olivia Della Torre set a new B-cut PB of 53.48 in the 100 butterfly. In the women's 200 breaststroke, senior Ashley McCauley closed out her Georgia career with a B-cut time of 2:13.88, tying with freshman teammate Elizabeth Isakson, who set a new PB and earned a second provisional cut.
 
In the 1,650 freestyle, freshman Heidi Stalkfleet nearly earned a B-cut as she turned in a personal-best time of 16:31.81. In the men's race, junior Tommy-Lee Camblong posted a B-cut time of 14:55.55.
 
For the weekend, the Georgia women tallied 27 personal-best times, while the Bulldog men racked up 24 top times, including a time of 43.70 by fifth-year Ananda Lim in the 100 freestyle.
 
Georgia now turns its attention to the NCAA Championships, beginning with the Zone B Diving Championships on March 5-8 in Knoxville, Tennessee. The NCAA Women's Championships will also take place in Knoxville on March 15-18, followed by the Men's Championships in Minneapolis on March 22-25.
