Track Opens Outdoor Season At Georgia Tech

ATHENS, Ga. --- Fresh off the men finishing in the top 10 for the fifth straight season at the 2022 NCAA Indoor Championships last weekend, the Bulldog track and field teams return to work in their outdoor opener on Friday and Saturday at the Yellow Jacket Invitational in Atlanta.
 
The Competition: South Carolina, Samford, Kennesaw State, Western Carolina, Clemson, UAB, Jacksonville State, UNC Asheville, Belmont, IUPUI, Lipscomb and Boston College are expected to join Georgia and the Yellow Jackets at the meet.
 
When Do The Dogs Start: A number of Bulldogs will take the George C. Griffin Track on Friday, beginning with the men's hammer throw (junior Alencar Pereira, graduate transfer Ty Kunzman) at 12:30 p.m.  The women will start with the hammer after the men and junior Ana da Silva, redshirt sophomores Mia Anderson and Elsie Igbaraese and sophomore Charlottte Cattermole-Williams are slated to compete. 
 
Action will start on Saturday with the women's high jump, pole vault and discus at 12 p.m. along with the men's triple jump.  The first Bulldog competing will be graduate transfer Julia Harisay and Igberaese in the women's discus.
 
What Dogs Are Competing: On the women's side, Igberaese, da Silva, Anderson, Cattermole-Williams, Harisay, graduate transfer Jayla Kirkland, seniors Anna Marian Block, Destiny Jackson, Halle McClintock, Imani Carothers, juniors Brandee PresleyGrace Clements, sophomores Aleesa de Castro, Charlotte Augenstein and freshmen Grace Ellsworth, Kenondra Davis, Eddiyah Frye are scheduled to make the trip to Georgia Tech.
 
For the men, Pereira, Kunzman, seniors Alejandro Collins, Delano Dunkley, juniors Curtis Borden, Chase Condra, Sam Bowers, Clay Pender, Tyler Fox, Wesley John, Caleb Cavanaugh, sophomores Gavin Beverage, John-Isaac Autry and freshmen Karthik Kochuparambil, Davis Potts, Seth White, Cooper Bocko, Bryce McCray and Noah Hayes are slated to compete in the outdoor opener.
 
Glimpse At Where This Season Will Take The Dogs: The outdoor opener marks the first of five scheduled regular season outdoor meets over five weekends, including the fifth-annual Torrin Lawrence Memorial (April 29-30) in Athens on the Spec Towns Track.  
 
The SEC Championships will arrive on May 12-14 in Oxford, Miss., with the NCAA East Prelims scheduled for May 25-28 in Bloomington, Ind.  The 2022 NCAA Championships are in Eugene, Ore., on June 8-11.
