BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Georgia Track and Field collects a trio of SEC men's weekly awards at Torrin Lawrence Memorial announced by the conference on Tuesday afternoon.

Freshman Jonathan Simms was named SEC Men's Runner of the Week for a historic finish in the 400 meter.

The McKinney, Texas native went stride-for-stride with 2025 NCAA outdoor champion Samuel Ogazi of Alabama, with the race decided by just 0.005 seconds at the Torrin Lawrence Memorial. His 44.02 mark stands as the 2026 current world lead, ranks No. 2 on the U20 world list, No. 6 on the all-time collegiate list and No. 17 all-time among American performers.

The finish also stands as the fastest combined finish in collegiate history by a freshman within the collegiate season and now stands as the Georgia school record, edging out Olympian Christopher Morales-Williams' mark of 44.05.

Graduate transfer Kimani Jack collected Men's Field Athlete of the Week honors after a record-setting performance in the high jump.

The London native contributed a record-breaking performance at the Torrin Lawrence Memorial, clearing 2.31m/7-7. He now holds both the indoor and outdoor Georgia school records, while also setting the 2026 NCAA and United Kingdom leads. His mark ranks No. 22 on the all-time collegiate list and No. 8 in United Kingdom history.

Jayden Dailey claimed his first career SEC weekly award, earning Men's Freshman of the Week for his efforts in both the men's 4x100 and 100 meter dash.

The St. Augustine, Fla. native contributed two impressive performances at the Torrin Lawrence Memorial. He ran the second leg on the men's 4x100m relay squad that finished at 38.92, ranking No. 4 in UGA history and No. 5 in the SEC. Dailey also posted a 10.07 (-0.4 m/s) in the men's 100m dash, placing him at No. 7 in the UGA record books and No. 11 in the current NCAA standings.

The Bulldogs will now take the week off to prepare to defend their 2025 outdoor conference title at the 2026 SEC Outdoor Championships hosted by Auburn this year at Hutsell-Rosen Track on May 14-16.
