Indoor - Returned to action from his historic 2018 outdoor campaign, in which he championed the Georgia men’s team to its first national championship as the NCAA meet high-scorer...Honored as the USTFCCCA 2019 Indoor Men’s Field Athlete of the Year for the second-straight season...Notched NCAA First Team All-American status in both the shot put and the weight throw for the second consecutive year...Turned in a throw of 76 feet, 6.25 inches to finish third in the weight throw, as well as a launch of 67 feet, 6.25 inches to achieve bronze once again in the shot put...Garnered his seventh career SEC title in the shot put, tossing 66’9.75” to win the event at the SEC Indoor Championships...Also finished second in the weight throw at SEC Indoors (74’10.5”)...Earned five event wins in a row during the regular season, beginning with victories in the shot put and weight throw at the Clemson Invitational and then the Husker Invitational before earning another shot put win at the Tyson Invitational...Tossed a season-best weight throw of 77 feet, two inches at the UAB Blazer Invitational in a runner-up performance.
2018: Outdoor - Captained the Georgia men to their first national championship in program history, garnering the meet’s highest individual score of 20 points with titles in the shot put and hammer throw...Named National Men’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Year (USTFCCCA) and a semifinalist for the Bowerman Award for his performance...Became just the second male thrower in NCAA history to win the outdoor shot and hammer in the same day, spanning all the way back to 1921...Launched a personal best and Dutch national record throw of 250 feet, 8 inches to win the hammer throw as the No. 10 performer in NCAA history...Followed up with a winning throw of 67 feet, 7 ½ inches in the shot put...Named the USTFCCCA South Region’s Outdoor Athlete of the Year prior to nationals...Secured the Southeastern Conference Commissioner’s Trophy at the SEC Outdoor Championships, racking up 23 points with SEC titles in the hammer throw (a new meet record of 249’1”) and the shot put, as well as sixth place in the discus throw...Re-established the Dutch national record three times over the course of the outdoor season, first with an opening throw of 238’3” at the Yellow Jacket Invite, then next with a huge throw of 250’3” at the Texas Relays--for which he was named SEC Men’s Field Athlete of the Week (4/3/18) and finally beating that mark at NCAAs...Set a new USF facility record in the HT (241’1”) at the NCAA East Preliminaries for the top regional qualifying spot towards nationals...Earned his second SEC weekly honor as Men’s Field Athlete of the Week (4/24/18) for his performance at the Mt. Indoor - Dominated the indoors season, earning his way to USTFCCCA South Region Men’s Field Athlete of the Year honors and First Team All-American honors in two events...Joins Torrin Lawrence (2012: 400m, 4x400m relay) as the only two Bulldogs to be named a scoring All-American in two different events at NCAA Indoors...Scored in two events at the NCAA Indoor Championships, earning a second-place finish in the shot put (66 feet, 7 inches) and a sixth-place finish in the shot put (73-8)...Earned the No. 2 NCAA qualifying mark in the weight throw (77-9.5) and the No. 4 qualifying mark in the shot put (67-0.75)...Launched a throw of 77-9.50 in the weight throw at the SEC Indoor Championships to secure his fourth SEC title and his first-ever championship in the event towards First Team All-SEC honors...Also placed third in the shot put at SECs...Set a new school record with a shot put of 67-0.75 at the Tiger Paw Invite, for which he was named SEC Male Field Athlete of the Week for the second time of the season...Also earned his way into the top two in the weight throw in school history with a launch of 73-6.75 in the season debut at the Clemson Invite, helping him earn his first SEC Male Field Athlete of the Week honor of the season.
2017: Outdoor – Opened his season in the shot put with a victory at the Spec Towns Invite with a mark of 64 feet, 2 ¼ inches…Finished first in the discus (180-10) at the Yellow Jacket Invite and was second in the hammer throw (201-0)…Improved his season-best mark of 233-8 for second place in the hammer at the Texas Relays…Launched the third-longest shot toss in UGA history with a mark of 66-8.50 to take second at the Virginia Challenge and won the hammer after reaching 227-3…Won the Torrin Lawrence Memorial with a shot put effort of 63-2.75 and watched his toss in the discus travel the third-best distance in school history of 190-3 to win…Reached 65-7.50 to capture the SEC shot title and finished first in the hammer at the SEC Championships with a mark of 234-3…Managed to advance at the NCAA East Prelims after tallying a shot mark of 62-3.25 for sixth place and a hammer mark of 230-3 for third place…Also took 15th in the discus at the Prelims with an effort of 182-2…Earned First Team All-America honors in the shot with an effort of 64-5 at the NCAA Championships while also scoring in the hammer with a fifth-place finish (235-4).
Indoor – Started his season by winning the shot put at the Texas A&M Quad meet with a mark of 59 feet, 11 inches…Also took second in the weight throw (65-7.50) in his only competition in the event of the year at the Texas A&M meet…Finished first in the shot at the Razorback Invite after reaching 6-3.25…Earned top honors at the Tiger Tuneup with an effort of 63 feet…Hit a season-best mark of 64-3.75 to win the shot at the SEC Championships…Improved his shot best to 65-2.75 for runner-up honors and a First Team All-America certificate at the NCAA Championships.
2016: Outdoor- Opened his outdoor career with a runner-up finish in the shot put at the Florida Relays thanks to a mark of 61 feet, 7 ½ inches...Won the discus at the Georgia Relays with a mark of 174-9 and finished first in the hammer (221-1)...Posted a personal-best mark of 227-9 for fifth in the hammer at the Florida Relays...Won the Georgia Invitational after his top hammer throw measured 218-9...Had a team-best mark of 182-6 for second in the discus at the Spec Towns Invite...Improved to 64-1 to earn runner-up honors in the shot at the SEC Championships...Finished fifth in the hammer at the SEC meet with a mark of 223-11...Also took sixth in the discus (179-9) at SECs...Finished seventh at the NCAA Prelims with a mark of 61-7 before bringing a Second Team All-America certificate back to Athens with a 17th-place finish (61-2.75)...Was fifth in the hammer at Prelims (222-4) and then was 11th at the NCAA meet for another Second Team certificate thanks to his mark of 223-9.
Indoor- Named SEC Men's Track and Field Freshman of the Week the week of January 26 after opening his indoor shot put career with a throw that ranked him the top freshman nationally at the time (63-0)...Won the Samford Invite in the shot put with a throw of 61-04.75...Finished fourth in the shot put at the SEC Championships asfter throwing 60 feet, 7 1/4 inches...Scored team points with an eighth place finish in the shotput at the NCAA Championships in season-best fashion (63-3.50).
High School: 2014 World Junior Championships silver medalist in the shot put...Won the Dutch indoor and outdoor championship in the 7.26kg shot put...Personal-best marks of 215 feet (5kg hammer), 217-2 (7.26kg hammer), 242-11 (6kg hammer), 194-5 (1.75kg discus), 185-10 (2kg college discus), 64-9.75 (indoor 6kg shot put), 66-2.25 (outdoor 6kg shot put) and 63-6.75 (outdoor 7.26kg shot).
