Track and Field Closes Out Final Day of Hurricane Invite with Seven Event Wins

MIAMI — Georgia Track and Field closes out time at Miami Invitational by setting three NCAA leads and claiming seven event wins on Saturday afternoon at Cobb Stadium. 

Fast Facts:
  • Men's Javelin would kick off the day for the Bulldogs in dominant fashion with a pair of impressive performances from graduate transfer Jordan Davis and sophomore transfer Nick Reynolds
  • On his opening throw, Davis collected an NCAA leading mark of 80.38m/263-8, besting the next competitor by 10 feet to secure his first event win as a Bulldog. That mark also ranks fifth in the current world standings and fourth in program history.
  • Reynolds also contributed his best mark on the opening throw at 75.68m/248-3, good for third place. That mark ranks fourth in the 2026 NCAA standings and sixth in program history.
  • On the women's side, freshman Valeria Smirnova would contribute another event win to Georgia's tally after leaping 1.80m/5-10.75 in the women's high jump to secure the win.
  • Over on the track, the Bulldogs matched their success by collecting three individual event wins and two relay victories. 
  • In the women's 400 meter, the Bulldogs would claim the top three spots with redshirt freshman Adaejah Hodge crossing the line first at 51.24. Her finish registered as a British Virgin Islands national record. Additionally, her time serves as a 2026 NCAA lead and ranks sixth in Georgia history.  
  • Freshman Tianna Springer followed in second place at 51.74, which ranks third in the current NCAA standings and eighth in program history. Then, sophomore Sole Frederick rounded out the Bulldog finishers at 52.21 for third, she now ranks ninth in school history and fifth on the current NCAA list.  
  • Over in the men's 400 meter, sophomore Xai Ricks found similar success with a 46.14 finish to claim the event win. That time ranks seventh in the NCAA currently.
  • In the women's 400 meter hurdles, sophomore Michelle Smith collected the win while setting the current NCAA lead at 55.64. Her finish also registers second on the current world ranking list. 
  • Over on the men's side, junior Mohamed Adoini finished runner-up in a close men's 400 meter race at 49.58. Adoini now ranks second in the current NCAA standings and fifth in school history.
  • Finally, the Georgia women collected two relay wins to finish the team's time off in Miami. First, the 4x100 squad comprised of freshman Maddi Cooper, sophomore Reign Redmond, freshman Celeste Robinson and senior Jassani Carter put together a 43.76 finish to secure the win. That finish ranks them sixth in the NCAA and 10th in the school record book.
  • To finish off the day the quartet of graduate transfer Shaquena Foote, freshman Skylar Brazzell, Carter and sophomore Sanaa Frederick clocked 3:33.08, which ranks fourth in the NCAA.

Next Up
The Bulldogs will split next weekend, sending a distance squad to the Stanford Invitational and the remaining competitors will travel to Baton Rouge, La for LSU's Battle on the Bayou. Both meets take place April 4-5.
