Georgia Track and Field Opens Day One of Hurricane Collegiate Invite with Event Win

MIAMI — Georgia Track and Field's Chelsi Williams kicks off day one at Miami's Hurricane Collegiate Invitational with an event win in the women's long jump on Friday afternoon.

Action picks back up tomorrow with the field events, starting with the men's javelin at 10:15 am, where graduate transfer Jordan Davis and sophomore transfer Nick Reynolds will make their outdoor Bulldog debuts.
The women's events start with freshman Valeria Smirnova in the women's high jump at 11:00 am.
Tomorrow's action will be available to watch on ACCNX starting with the track events at Noon with the women's 100 meter hurdles prelims.

- In the women's long jump Georgia competitors finish 1-2-3 with freshman Chelsi Williams winning the event at an all-conditions personal best of 6.43m/21-1.25 (0.5). Seniors Ella Rush and T'oni Birden followed in second and third, Rush leaping 6.19m/20-3.75 (0.5) and Birden 6.09m/19-11.75 (0.5).
- Meanwhile, in the men's pole vault, the Bulldog duo of seniors Alon Rogow and Nikolai van Huyssteen put up solid season opening efforts. Rogow cleared 5.22m/17-1.50 for third and van Huyssteen 5.07m/16-7.50 for fifth place overall.
- In the men's discus throw senior transfer Romet Vahter heaved a career best 40.23m/132-0 for 14th and sophomore Maximus Tucker was close behind in 17th after a throw of 37.57m/123-3.
