Track and Field Collects Trio of SEC Weekly Awards

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Georgia track & field collects a trio of Southeastern Conference weekly awards for their performances at Hurricane Collegiate Invitational, announced Tuesday afternoon.
Junior Mohamed Adoini was named Men's Co-Runner of the Week after an impressive outdoor debut in the men's 400 meter hurdles.
The Bizerta, Tunisia native recorded the top time in the SEC and No. 2 in the NCAA, with a 49.58 finish this past weekend at Miami's at the Hurricane Invitational. Adoini's time ranks No. 11 in the current world rankings and fifth in school history.
Senior Jordan Davis was named SEC Men's Field Athlete of the Week after an impressive Bulldog debut in the men's javelin.
Davis heaved an NCAA leading mark of 80.38m/263-8 in the javelin to secure his first event win as a Bulldog this weekend at the Hurricane Invitational. The Wallingford, Conn. native stands alone as the only collegian to reach the 80-meter mark this season. That mark ranks fifth in the current world standings and fourth in program history.
On the women's side, freshman Chelsi Williams also collected an award from her outstanding field performance in the women's long jump; she was named SEC Co-Field Athlete of the Week.
The Lakeland, Fla. native leaped an overall career best 6.43m/21-1.25 (0.5) this past Friday at the Hurricane Invitational. Her mark ranks third on the current NCAA list and it is the top performance this season by a freshman.
Next Up
This upcoming weekend the Bulldogs will split, sending a small distance squad to the Stanford Invitational and the remaining competitors will travel to Baton Rouge, La. for LSU's Battle on the Bayou. Both meets take place April 4-5.
