No. 1 Bulldogs Set to Close Out Regular Season at No. 14 Texas, No. 2 Texas A&M

ATHENS, Ga. — The No. 1 Georgia women's tennis team (20-1, 13-0 SEC) is set to travel to the Lone Star State for its final weekend of regular season competition as it will face No. 14 Texas (13-9, 7-6 SEC) on Friday, April 11 at 3 p.m. ET in Austin, followed by a regular season finale at No. 2 Texas A&M (21-2, 12-1 SEC) on Sunday, April 13 at 1 p.m. ET in College Station, Texas.

Georgia opened the afternoon with a win in doubles. #90 Aysegul Mert and Hayden Mulberry struck first with a 6-1 victory over Gian Octa and Zoe Lazar before #12 Dasha Vidmanova and Mell Reasco defeated Mary Brumfield and Korina Roso, 6-2, to secure doubles point for the Bulldogs. Sofia Rojas was the first to finish in singles for Georgia, taking a 6-1, 6-3 victory over Octa on court six. #82 Guillermina Grant followed up soon after, taking full control on court five as she earned a 6-2, 6-1 win over Andrea Artimedi to put the Bulldogs up 3-0. #1 Vidmanova was the star of the afternoon for Georgia as she capped off Senior Day in style, knocking off Brumfield 6-2, 6-3 on court one to secure the sweep. The Bulldogs remain undefeated all-time at 13-0 against the Tigers, extending their SEC home regular season winning streak to 22 matches dating back to the 2021-22 season while also increasing its scoring margin to 88-17 through 21 matches in the spring.

Texas - No. 14 Texas enters the final weekend of the regular season at 13-9 overall with an 7-6 mark in SEC play. Riding a three-match win streak ahead of Friday's meeting, the Longhorns own eight ranked victories on the year. Led by head coach Howard Joffe in his ninth season at the helm, Texas enter the weekend in search for its first top 10 ranked victory of the season. The Longhorns are well represented in the latest ITA player rankings. In singles, Texas is led by five names inside the top 100 headlined by No. 32 Carmen Andreea Herea followed by No. 56 Sabina Zeynalova, No. 74 Eszter Meri, No. 82 Ariana Anazagasty-Pursoo and No. 93 Ashton Bowers. Led by head coach Mark Weaver in his 10th season at the helm, Texas A&M is primed for another strong finish in regular season play. The Aggies have five players listed in the latest ITA player rankings. In singles, Texas A&M has all five names headlined by No. 2 Mary Stoiana followed by No. 14 Nicole Khirin, No. 51 Lucciana Perez, No. 68 Mia Kupres and No. 90 Daria Smetannikov. In doubles, the Aggies rep a lone pair with Stoiana and Perez checking in at No. 38.
