Bulldogs Rewrite All-Time Top-10 Lists At Tom Jones Memorial Invitational

GAINESVILLE, Fla. --- The Georgia track and field teams picked up three wins and made six improvements to the program's all-time top-10 lists on the final day of the Tom Jones Memorial Invitational on Saturday.

Christopher Morales Williams improved his No. 2 time in program history in the 400-meter dash to an NCAA-leading 44.91 while picking up his second win of the outdoor season. Elena Kulichenko earned her third victory in as many meets with a clearance of 1.92 meters/6 feet, 3.50 inches in the high jump.

The Lowdown: Morales Williams earned a victory in the 400m invite, cruising to an NCAA-leading time of 44.91. The sophomore clocked a new outdoor personal best while improving his No. 2 time in the Georgia record books. The native of Vaughan, Ontario, also broke his own under-20 Canadian national record, surpassing his time of 45.18 from the Battle on the Bayou on March 30. Junior Hossam Hatib joined Morales Williams on the top-10 list with a time of 45.74, good for seventh in program history and 11th at today's meet.

Kulichenko cleared the high jump bar at a height of 1.92m/6-3.50 to win the high jump invite in Gainesville. The junior has won all three of her high jump competitions this season and currently sits in second on the 2024 NCAA outdoor performance list.Â

Aaliyah Butler blazed to second place in the 400m invite, posting the No. 2 time in Georgia history and the No. 2 time in the NCAA this season (50.05). The sophomore shaved over a second off her previous outdoor personal best of 51.22, set at the Battle on the Bayou two weeks ago, to surpass Shaunae Miller on Georgia's all-time top-10 list. Butler now only trails Lynna Irby's time of 49.80 in the school record books.

Fellow sprinter Haley Tate also moved up on Georgia's all-time top-10 list, clocking a time of 52.83 to place 20th in the 400m invite. The sophomore moved from eighth to seventh in the school record books with her time, also posting a lifetime best.Â

The women's 4x100m relay team of Kaila Jackson, Autumn Wilson, Kimberly Harris, and Butler crossed the finish line in sixth place with a time of 43.26, the third-fastest time in school history. The Lady Bulldogs were the fourth-fastest collegiate team across the finish line in Gainesville, coming within .40 seconds of the school record set by Jackson, Wilson, Brandee Presley, and Butler at the 2023 NCAA Outdoor Championship meet (42.87).

Later in the day, the 4x400m relay quartet of Tate, Butler, Dominique Mustin, and Harris shot into the No. 2 spot in the Georgia record books with a time of 3:30.23, placing seventh overall and fourth among collegiate relay teams.

Jackson crossed the finish line second in the 100m, posting a time of 11.10. The time is the fastest by a Lady Bulldog this season and ranks sixth in the NCAA in 2024.Â

Zavien Wolfe recorded a fifth-attempt mark of 15.52m/50-11 to earn a runner-up placement in the triple jump. The freshman entered the finals in fifth place before recording his top mark of the outdoor season to skyrocket to second.

The men's 4x100m relay squad of Micah Larry, Ali Elashmawi, Jehlani Gordon, and Morales Williams crossed the finish line in 12th place with a time of 39.57.

Bella Witt clocked a time of 13.24 (W+2.1) in the 100m hurdles, finishing fourth in her heat and 12th overall in the prelims.

Freshman Mekhi Gammons set a new season best in the 400m, crossing the finish line in 47.52 to place fifth in the morning race.

Katherine Law picked up a win in the 3,000m run, crossing the finish line in 10:23.79.

What's Next For The Bulldogs?:Â The Bulldogs will return to Atlanta for the second time this outdoor season for the Georgia Tech Invitational on April 19-20. That meet will mark the seventh of nine scheduled regular season outdoor meets over seven weekends.Â
