Bulldogs Prep For Georgia Tech Invitational

ATHENS, Ga. --- Georgia's track and field teams are set to compete in Atlanta for the second time this season when they participate in the Georgia Tech Invitational on Friday and Saturday.

The Georgia Tech Invitational, held at the George C. Griffin Track & Field Facility, marks the penultimate weekend of Georgia's regular season. The Bulldogs will conclude their regular season at Vanderbilt and LSU next weekend.

Who's The Competition?:Â Georgia is one of 44 teams scheduled to compete at the Georgia Tech Invitational. The Bulldogs are the lone representatives of the Southeastern Conference set to participate in Atlanta.

When Do The Bulldogs Start?: Stephanie Ratcliffe will compete in the hammer throw beginning at 1:30 p.m. on Friday. Ella Rush and Bella Witt will participate in Georgia's first running event of the day at 5:30 p.m. when they compete in the 100-meter hurdles.

On Saturday, Alon Rogow will kick off the Bulldogs' field events with the pole vault at 12 p.m., and Dominique Mustin and Zoe Pollock will run the 400m hurdles at 1:30 p.m.

What Bulldogs Are Competing?: Members of the women's team slated to compete in Atlanta are Leah Anderson, Samantha Aromin, Charlotte Augenstein, Bella Brick, Bella Cammarota, Kieley Gayle, Lorel Golden, Kimberly Harris, Sydney Harris, Ella Kepple, Audrey Knoper, Katherine Law, Erin McMeniman, Kelsie Murrell-Ross, Dominique Mustin, Gracie O'Neal, Nina Ouellette, Karsen Phillips, Zoe Pollock, Michaela Prevallet, Stephanie Ratcliffe, Simone Rojas, Ella Rush, Caitlin Schroeder, Haley Tate, Autumn Wilson, and Bella Witt.

LAST WEEK'S FLASHBACK – Tom Jones Memorial Invitational (April 12-13): The Bulldogs earned five wins while making nine improvements to the program's all-time top-10 lists at the Florida-hosted Tom Jones Memorial Invitational last weekend. Marc Minichello earned his second javelin victory in as many meets with a mark of 81.03 meters/265 feet, 10 inches on the opening day of competition. Stephanie Ratcliffe made her Georgia debut in Gainesville, recording a winning mark of 66.64m/162-6 in the hammer throw.Â

On Saturday, Christopher Morales Williams improved his NCAA-leading time to 44.91 in the 400-meter dash for his second win of the outdoor season while Elena Kulichenko posted her third-straight high jump victory, clearing a height of 1.92 meters/6 feet, 3.50 inches to win the invite event. Additionally, Aaliyah Butler clocked the second fastest 400m time in program history (50.05) to finish runner-up in the 400m invite. That time ranks second in the NCAA this season while making her the No. 10 all-time collegiate performer in the event.

Outdoor SEC Honors:Â Minichello was named Southeastern Conference Men's Co-Field Athlete of the Week following his javelin performance at the Hurricane Collegiate Invitational on March 23. The graduate student posted a mark of 82.32m/270-1 to win the javelin throw and move into the national lead by more than 10 feet. The 2022 NCAA javelin champion is the No. 11 all-time collegiate performer and No. 2 in Georgia history in the event.Â

The Bulldogs added two more weekly SEC honors following the Tom Jones Memorial Invitational on April 12-13. Kulichenko was named SEC Women's Field Athlete of the Week after her win in the women's high jump invite while Riyon Rankin's runner-up performance in the men's high jump invite earned him SEC Freshman of the Week honors. Kulichenko's mark of 1.92m/6-3.50 ranks second in the NCAA this season while Rankin's top jump of 2.21m/7-3 ranks fourth nationally, including first among freshmen.

Glimpse At Where This Season Will Take The Dogs:Â Georgia will complete its final preparations for the Southeastern Conference Championships next weekend, splitting time between the Music City Challenge (April 26-27) and the LSU Invitational (April 27) in the final weekend of the outdoor regular season.Â
The SEC Championships will arrive on May 9-11 in Gainesville, Fla., with the NCAA East Prelims scheduled for May 22-25 in Lexington, Ky. The 2024 NCAA Championships return to the site of this year's U.S. Olympic Trials in Eugene, Ore., on June 5-8. The Trials will run June 21-30 at the Hayward Field facility.
