Georgia Women Take Third, Men Finish Fifth At SEC T&F Championships

AUBURN, Ala. --- The Georgia women used two individual titles to take third while the men had one conference champion to help them finish fifth as the Southeastern Conference Outdoor Championships wrapped up in Auburn, Ala., Saturday.

Senior Dejanea Oakley ran the second-fastest 400-meter dash in collegiate history with a 48.92 to shatter Aaliyah Butler's school record as well as the meet record to earn a gold medal in the event.  Butler won Georgia's first SEC women's 400m title last year.

Later in the meet, redshirt freshman Adaejah Hodge rocketed to No. 4 on the all-time collegiate performer list with a 21.92 to capture Georgia's first women's 200m championship since Olympic medalist Lynna Irby placed first in 2018.  Hodge's time passes her own school record of 22.10 registered at this year's Spec Towns Invitational.Â

The men's highlight of the day came in the high jump as junior Kimani Jack completed the SEC indoor-outdoor sweep thanks to clearing 2.23 meters/7 feet, 3 ¾ inches.  He gives the Bulldogs two titles in a row in the event after teammate Riyon Rankin won in 2025.

Florida won the women's team race with 107 points while Alabama (91.5) and Georgia (90) rounded out the top three.  Arkansas (110.5) was the top finisher on the men's side with Alabama (94.5), Florida (78), Texas A&M (64.5) and Georgia (64) finishing behind the Razorbacks.

Georgia had a flurry of scorers on the final day of the conference meet:
*The women's 4x100m relay team knocked off their school record from earlier this season to take the silver.
*Junior Ryan Olree topped the fifth-place finisher by .02 seconds to take fourth in the 1500m.
*The Bulldog women had a trio of scorers in the 100m hurdle final as freshman Taylor Cox led the way with a school record for the silver.
*In addition to Oakley's title in the 400m, senior Shaquena Foote added a point with an eighth-place finish. Â
*During the men's 400m, freshman sensation Jonathan Simms ran the second-fastest time of his career to earn a bronze medal.
*Senior Kaila Jackson did what she has done in her previous three SEC outdoor meets which is score in the 100m.  In addition, she added another three points with a sixth-place finish in the 200m,
*Yet another silver came from sophomore Michelle Smith in the 400m hurdles.
*Sophomore Mohamed Adoini had a personal best for the second straight meet to also finish second in the men's 400m hurdles.
*Senior Matias Reynaga continued his strong start as a Bulldog with a sixth-place finish in the 5000m.
*Mixing their lineup in the 4x400m relay, the Lady Bulldogs set a school record for a runner-up finish in the last event on the track.
*Sophomore Danah Nembhard finished sixth in the triple jump with a season-best effort.
*Senior Brion Stephens complemented Jack's victory in the high jump with a bronze medal of his own.

The Bulldogs scorers on the first two days of the meet included:
*Nina Ndubuisi (women's shot put – 2nd), Kelsie Murrell-Ross (women's shot put – 3rd), Nikolai van Huyssteen (men's pole vault – 2nd), Jayden Keys (men's long jump – 5th), Ella Rush (heptathlon – 2nd), Jordan Davis (men's javelin – 2nd), Nick Reynolds (men's javelin – 4th), Oliver Smart (men's 10,000m – 8th)

The Lowdown On The Bulldogs' Saturday Scorers: *Reign Redmond, Hodge, Lisa Raye and Jassani Carter combined to clock a 42.61 in the 4x100m relay, edging the previous school record of 42.62 set at this year's Battle on the Bayou and giving UGA second place.
*Olree answered his personal best from the prelims with a fourth-place finish in the 1500m thanks to a 3:44.57.
*Cox ran a 12.81 in the 100m hurdles to pass the great Kendell Williams in the school record books and take second overall.  Redshirt freshman Rylee Hampton responded with a personal best of 12.92 for fourth while Chelsi Williams was the third UGA hurdler under 13 seconds with a 12.99 for seventh.
*Foote's 51.02 was strong enough to lock down the eighth and final scoring spot in the women's 400m.
*Simms flew to a 44.16, which ranks just behind his school record 44.02, to take third in the 400m final.
*Jackson made it 4-for-4 as far as scoring in the 100m at SECs with an 11.20 for eighth place.  She returned in the 200m final and recorded a 22.75 for sixth place, marking the fourth time she had scored in that event as well.
*Smith ran a season best 54.72 to earn her second consecutive second-place finish in the 400m hurdle final.
*Adoini bettered his No. 3 spot on UGA's all-time top 10 list in the men's 400m hurdles with a 48.75 to deliver a silver medal in his first SEC outdoor meet experience.
*Reynaga finished .08 in front of the seventh-place finisher to leave Auburn with a sixth place showing in the 5000m thanks to a 13:34.19.
*Vimbayi Maisvorewa, Foote, Tianna Springer and Oakley clocked a 3:22.54 to take second in the 4x400m relay with the No. 8 all-time collegiate performance.
*Nembhard saved her first 43-foot mark in the triple jump for her final attempt to take sixth thanks to a sixth try of 13.21m/43-4.25.
*Stephens had a second attempt clearance at 2.20m/7-2.50 to finish third in the high jump during his first trip to the SEC outdoor meet after transferring in from Louisville.
