Four Top-Three Finishes Highlight SEC T&F Championships For Bulldogs

Day Three – Saturday, May 16

AUBURN, Ala. --- Georgia's track and field teams had three silver medal finishes and one bronze medal showing during day two of the Southeastern Conference Outdoor Championships in Auburn, Ala., Friday.
 
Alabama is leading on the men's side with 43 points while Georgia is in fifth with 26.  For the women, Alabama is No. 1 currently with 62.5 and Georgia is in fourth (22).
 
The Bulldogs left the Hutsell-Rosen Track with five scorers on day two:
*Junior Nina Ndubuisi collected a silver medal in the shot put after earning gold for Texas in 2025.
*One spot behind Ndubuisi was senior Kelsie Murrell-Ross, who repeated her 2025 performance with a bronze in the shot.
*Senior Nikolai van Huyssteen set a school record at SECs for the second year in a row to pick up the second silver medal of his career in the pole vault.
*Sophomore Jayden Keys complemented his win in 2025 with a fifth-place finish in the long jump this time around.
 
Senior Ella Rush was another scorer for the Georgia women after improving her bronze medal finishes in 2024 and 2025 with a silver this season.  She scored 5,767 points to finish one point ahead of Oklahoma's Angel Richmore for second.  Rush was in fourth with 3,391 points after Thursday.
 
UGA registered 11 qualifiers during the second of three days in Auburn:
*Georgia qualified four of five in the 100-meter hurdles.  Freshman Chelsie Williams rocketed from No. 5 to No. 2 in the school record books with a personal best 12.91 to take fourth while freshman Zoe Ziglor took second in her heat and sixth overall.  Another freshman, Taylor Cox, punched her ticket with a 12.98 and redshirt freshman Rylee Hampton raced in only her second competition of the year and finished with a 13.05 to take over the No. 6 spot on UGA's all-time top 10 list.  The Bulldog quartet will race in the final on Saturday at 6:45 p.m.
*On the men's side, freshman Le'Ezra Brown advanced to Saturday's final at 6:55 p.m. with a 13.49 in the 110m hurdle prelims.
*Junior Ryan Olree sped to a personal best 3:43.95 to punch his ticket in the 1500m prelims.  He moved to No. 4 in the school record books and will take the track again on day three at 6:35 p.m.  Freshman Kristers Kudlis also snuck in with a 3:46.66 to give Georgia a pair of qualifiers.
*Another Georgia duo progressed to the final round in the women's 400m.  Senior Dejanea Oakley won her heat and was second overall with a season best 50.15 and senior Shaquena Foote finished fifth with a 50.87.
*Freshman Jonathan Simms finished first in the fifth heat and was third overall after clocking a 45.06 in the men's 400m.  Simms will race in Saturday's final at 7:15 p.m.
*In the 100m prelims, senior Kaila Jackson ended in a spot she has been in throughout her career – headed to an SEC final.  Jackson ran an 11.17 after winning the sixth heat.  She will race in the 100m final at 7:25 p.m. Saturday,
 
The Bulldogs had three scorers on Thursday:
*Senior Jordan Davis (javelin – 2nd), sophomore Nick Reynolds (javelin – 4th), senior Oliver Smarr (10,000m– 8th)
 
Georgia also finished the first day with four qualifiers:
*Redshirt freshman Adaejah Hodge and senior Kaila Jackson punched their tickets to the 200m final.  Hodge won the overall group with a 22.54 and Jackson was fifth with a 22.75.  The duo races in the 200m final at 8:25 p.m. ET Saturday. 
*Sophomore Michelle Smith secured a win in the third heat of the 400m hurdles and was third overall.  She will race in the final at 8:05 p.m. Saturday.
*Sophomore Mohamed Adoini clocked the third-fastest 400m hurdle time of his career with a 49.21 to win the prelims.  The first-year transfer will race in the final at 8:15 p.m. Saturday.
 
The Lowdown: *Ndubuisi improved on her third and fourth attempts in the shot put and finished with a fifth try at 18.15 meters/59 feet, 6.75 inches.
*Murrell-Ross watched her second attempt in the shot travel the second-longest distance of her season at 18.02m/59-1.50 for third.
*Van Huyssteen had a first attempt clearance at 5.60m/18-4.50 in the pole vault to finish second.  This passed his school record of 18-0.50 set at the 2025 meet and gave him a silver for the second time after also earning the honor in 2024.
*Keys bounced back from a first try foul to go 7.82m/25-8 to take fifth in the long jump.
 
Hep Update: *Rush opened with a personal-best mark of 6.32m/20-9 to win the long jump.
*She approached her season best in the javelin with her only fair toss of 32.94m/108-1 to finish 12th.
*Rush concluded her seven events by taking fourth in the 800m with a 2:14.83.
 
Saturday's Schedule: Sydney Harris, Danah Nembhard and Skylynn Townsend will triple jump at 4 p.m.  The first event scheduled on the track is the women's 4x100m relay at 6:05 p.m.
