Track & Field Shakes Up School Record Books in Baton Rouge, Raleigh

BATON ROUGE, La. --- Freshman long jumper Micah Larry posted the top collegiate mark at the Battle on the Bayou while Erin McMeniman and Lorel Golden posted top-10 marks in school history as Georgia's track and field teams split time between LSU and NC State on Friday.
 
McMeniman tied her longest javelin throw as a Bulldog with a mark of 50.49 meters/165 feet, 7 inches to place fourth in her season debut at the Battle on the Bayou. The graduate student matched her No. 10 mark in program history to highlight Georgia's first day in Baton Rouge. Larry recorded a mark of 7.57m/24-10 (+2.5) to place fourth overall and first among collegiate athletes at the LSU-hosted meet.
 
Golden led the way for the Lady Bulldogs on Georgia's final day of competition at the Raleigh Relays, moving into eighth in the school record books with a time of 10:38.14 in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. 
 
The Bulldogs earned a total of ten top-10 finishes between Baton Rouge and Raleigh on Friday, including eight top-five marks.
 
When Do The Bulldogs Start Saturday?: Georgia will compete in the final day of the Battle on the Bayou beginning with Alexander Kolesnikoff and Gavin Beverage in the shot put at 11 a.m. ET. Track events will begin at 1 p.m. with the men's 4x100-meter relay featuring Jordan McKenzie, Micah Larry, Jehlani Gordon, and Ali Elashmawi.

The Lowdown: McMeniman opened her season with a fourth-place finish in the javelin throw at LSU, posting a mark of 50.49m/165-7 on her fifth attempt. The Dracut, Mass., native was one of five athletes in the field to clear the 50-meter mark, tying her longest throw as a Bulldog. The graduate student matched her No. 10 mark in Georgia history with her performance.
 
Larry reached a mark of 7.57m/24-10 (+2.5) on his second long jump attempt to place fourth with the top mark by a collegiate athlete. Fellow freshman Zavien Wolfe also leaped to a new personal best with a wind-legal mark of 7.35m/24-1.50 to place seventh.
 
Hurdlers Dominique Mustin and Zoe Pollock both earned top-10 finishes in the 400m hurdles in Baton Rouge. Mustin clocked a time of 57.09 to place fourth while Pollock took seventh with a time of 58.70. Mustin and Pollock entered today's meet ranked second and third on Georgia's all-time top-10 list, respectively.
 
In Raleigh, sophomore Lorel Golden shaved 15 seconds from her previous personal best to clock a 10:38.14 for 25th in the 3,000m steeplechase. The Marietta, Ga., native moved into eighth on the program's all-time top-10 list with her performance, posting Georgia's fastest time in the steeplechase since 2015. 
 
Junior Gracie O'Neal also clocked a new personal record of 10:54.53 to finish 33rd in the steeplechase. In the 1500m, Charlotte Augenstein posted a time of 4:25.10 to place 44th.
 
Georgia's success in the steeplechase continued in Baton Rouge as Ethan Nordman and Luke Kalarickal both posted new personal records to place second and fourth in the 3,000m steeplechase. Nordman clocked a time of 9:01.21 while Kalarickal finished just under two seconds behind in 9:11.11.
 
Bella Brick placed fifth in the women's 3,000m steeplechase at LSU with a personal best of 11:05.90.
 
Junior pole vaulter Nikolai van Huyssteen took fifth place with a clearance of 5.15m/16-10.75 on his first attempt. Sophomore Alon Rogow increased his personal best for the second-straight week, clearing 5.00m/16-4.75 to tie for 17th.
 
Freshman Jehlani Gordon clocked a time of 21.21 (+2.5) in the 200m to finish 20th while graduate student Jordan McKenzie placed 22nd with a time of 21.27 (+4.4).
 
John Jessup trimmed nearly 13 seconds off his personal best in the 1500m, finishing with a time of 3:50.10 to place 16th.
 
Luke Churchwell ran the first outdoor 5,000m of his collegiate career in Baton Rouge, placing fifth with a time of 14:35.10.
