Dogs Pick Up All-Time Top-10 Finishes At Raleigh Relays

RALEIGH, N.C. --- The Georgia men's distance runners established two of the fastest 5000-meter and 3000m steeplechase times in school history during the opening day of the Raleigh Relays Thursday.

Sam Bowers helped conclude the night with the fourth-best 5000m time in Bulldog history to finish 21stoverall. Â

Before Bowers' finish, Wesley John registered the fifth fastest 3000m steeplechase time in school history and the fastest since 2016 for UGA.

When Do The Dogs Start Friday: On Friday, all 14 Lady Bulldogs will take the start line, beginning with Charlotte Augenstein, Simone Rojas and Lily Cincola in the 1500m at 4:20 p.m.

On the women's side, Lorel Golden (3000m steeplechase), Ellie Hall (5000m), Audrey Knoper (5000m) and Gracie O'Neal (3000m steeplechase) are the other Lady Bulldogs scheduled to compete at N.C. State's meet.

The Lowdown: Bowers left the track with the fastest 5000m finish since 2018 for the Bulldogs thanks to a 13:57.72, which shaved 20 seconds off his former personal best.

John completed his first full steeplechase of the season with the top finish of his career.  He was third in his heat and 17th overall with a time of 8:57.41.  In the opening heat, Cole Heron took 31st after completing his laps in 9:08.58.

Also in the 5000m, Chase Condra approached his personal record with a 14:25.85 and was 89th in the 208-man field.  Zachary Roe did finish with the top time of his career (14:39.68) and completed the race in 137th.
