Bulldogs Finish Seventh at Southwestern Invitational

WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif. — The 22nd-ranked University of Georgia men's golf team carded an 11-over-par 299 on Wednesday to finish seventh in the team standings following the final round of the Southwestern Invitational at North Ranch Country Club (Lakes/Oaks Course).
No. 17 Texas earned the team title with a three-round total of 14-under-par 850 (270-290-290), while No. 16 and tourney host Pepperdine finished second at 1-under-par 863 (290-288-285) and No. 2 Arizona State finished third at 4-over-par 868 (275-304-289). The Bulldogs posted a three-round score of 19-over-par 883 (288-296-299). Michael Brennan of Wake Forest claimed individual medalist honors with a 54-hole score of 9-under-par 207 (70-68-69).
Junior Caleb Manuel carded a 1-under-par 71 to move up six spots in the individual standings and tie for ninth with a 54-hole total of 1-under-par 215 (72-72-71). Sophomore Maxwell Ford posted a final round 1-over-par 73 to finish tied for 13th with a 36-hole total of even-par 216 (71-72-73).
Freshman Carter Loflin tallied a final round 4-over-par 76 to finish tied for 28th at 7-over-par 223 (72-75-76), while senior Ben van Wyk tallied a 9-over-par 81 to finish tied for 52nd at 15-over-par 231 (73-77-81) and graduate Michael Shears posted a 7-over-par 79 to finish tied for 61st at 20-over-par 236 (77-80-79).
Playing as an individual, Sophomore Buck Brumlow tallied a final round 1-under-par 71 to finish 22nd at 4-over-par 220 (70-79-71).
The Bulldogs return to action when they compete in the Puerto Rico Classic on Feb. 12-14 (Sunday-Tuesday) in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
