Bulldogs Continuing Fall In SEC Match Play

ATHENS, Ga. --- The Georgia men's golf team will continue the fall portion of its schedule next week in the SEC Match Play hosted by Jerry Pate in Vestavia Hills, Ala.
Field: Georgia, Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Florida, LSU, Kentucky, Missouri, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Vanderbilt.
Schedule And Format: Georgia and its SEC brethren will have 36 holes of continuous stroke play on Sunday and 18 holes of stroke play on Monday. The top two finishers after stroke play will square off in match play on Tuesday for the team title. The remaining 12 teams will face off in match play events as well. Georgia will be paired with LSU and Missouri on Sunday as the teams have a 9:30 a.m. shotgun start.
Course: Old Overton Club (par 70, 7,204 yards).
Georgia Lineup: Seniors Nicolas Cassidy, Connor Creasy, and Ben van Wyk; junior Caleb Manuel; and sophomore Buck Brumlow.
Last Time: The Bulldogs opened the season with a fourth-place finish in the inaugural Frederica Cup Sept. 7-8.
Coach Chris Haack Says: "I thought we played pretty well in the Frederica Cup, but we're not satisfied with fourth-place finishes. Everybody contributed and showed at times what they are capable of, so it was a solid start to the year. We're excited about getting back at it in this event. It will be beneficial to go head to head against SEC schools, especially the match play portion. Being good at match play is critical for the championship portion of the schedule, so we're looking forward to getting a taste of that."
News And Notes: Creasy recorded career bests with a seventh-place effort at 14-under 202 in the Frederica Cup … Brumlow (6-under 66) and Cassidy (5-under 67) also had career-best loops … Manuel will be making his Georgia debut after spending his first two seasons at Maine … van Wyk's last name is pronounced fun-vake … Cassidy and Creasy are serving as the Bulldogs' team captains this season.
