Track Back On The Road For Tom Jones Memorial

ATHENS, Ga. --- The Bulldogs made the journey to Gainesville, Fla., on Wednesday for the Tom Jones Memorial, which runs Friday and Saturday.
 
Georgia took 43 student-athletes to Florida's campus, marking the program's last out of state meet for the 2022 outdoor regular season.
 
When Do The Dogs Start: Senior decathlete Johannes Erm (men's discus) along with senior Titiana Marsh and freshman Eddiyah Frye (women's long jump) will begin the action at 2 p.m. on Friday.  The first event on the track for the Bulldogs is junior Anna Marian Block in the 1500 meters at 5 p.m.
 
Day two will restart on 10 a.m. with the hammer throw.  The Lady Bulldog foursome of juniors Ana Da Silva and Elsie Igberaese and sophomores Mia Anderson and Charlotte Cattermole-Williams are registered to compete in the event.

What Dogs Are Competing: Graduate transfers Jamari Drake, Julia Harisay, Jayla Kirkland, seniors Grace Clements, Destiny Jackson, Courtney Long, Titiana Marsh, Halle McClintock, juniors da Silva, Block, Shelby Tyler, Igberaese, sophomores Cattermole-Williams, Anderson, Charlotte Augenstein, Michaella Prevallet and freshmen Elena Kulichenko, Gracie O'Neal and Frye are traveling for the women.  
 
Graduate transfer Ty Kunzman, seniors Ziggy Zoller, Alencar Pereira, Sam Bowers, Darius Carbin, Alejandro Collins, Delano Dunkley, Erm, Elija Godwin, Ahmed Magour, Clay Pender and juniors Gavin Beverage, Matthew Boling, Kyle Garland, Caleb Cavanaugh, Wesley John and freshmen Cooper Bocko, Noah Hayes, Cole Heron, Karthik Kochuparambil, Bryce McCray, Davis Potts, Seth White and Grant Briscoe complete the men's contingent slated to compete.
 
Last Time At Percy Beard Track: The Bulldogs competed at the Florida Relays at the beginning of the month.  Highlights included Kulichenko and Drake each hitting 1.84 meters/6 feet, ½ inches in the high jump, which stands seventh nationally; Marsh reaching 6.32m/20-9 in the long jump, which stands 15th nationally; Boling speeding to a 20.31 finish in the 200m, which stands sixth nationally; Cavanaugh completing the 400m hurdles in 50.32, which stands 13th nationally; and Magour making his Bulldog debut with a mark of 71.38m/234-2 to win the javelin, which stands 12th nationally.
 
Georgia also competed at the 2021 Tom Jones Memorial, marking the first time the Bulldogs had competed at the Gators' second home meet of the year in more than a decade.
 
Weekly Honor For Garland: Garland has been tabbed the Southeastern Conference Men's Field Athlete of the Week following his performance at the Tennessee Relays last weekend.  This marks the first outdoor weekly honor for Garland, a native of Philadelphia, Pa.  The 2021 and 2022 NCAA indoor runner-up in the heptathlon joins Kulichenko (Women's Freshman) and Boling (Men's Runner) as SEC weekly award winners for Georgia so far this season.
 
Garland posted five personal bests in his 10 events to score an NCAA leading 8,133 points to be the top collegiate finisher (second overall) in the decathlon at the Tennessee Relays.  His score, which ranks No. 3 on this year's world list, featured the 10th-best 110-meter hurdle time (13.91) in school history.
 
Glimpse At Where This Season Will Take The Dogs: The Tom Jones Memorial marks the fifth of seven scheduled regular season outdoor meet weekends through the end of April, including the fifth-annual Torrin Lawrence Memorial (April 29-30) in Athens on the Spec Towns Track.  
 
The SEC Championships will arrive on May 12-14 in Oxford, Miss., with the NCAA East Prelims scheduled for May 25-28 in Bloomington, Ind.  The 2022 NCAA Championships are in Eugene, Ore., on June 8-11.
