Georgia Track and Field Collects Four SEC Weekly Awards for Second Consecutive Week

Birmingham, Ala. – Georgia track & field earned four Southeastern Conference weekly awards for their performances at Georgia Inaugural Spec Towns Invitational announced by the conference on Tuesday afternoon. 

Freshman Jonathan Simms was named Men's Runner of the Week after a pair of stellar performances in the 200m dash and the 4x400m Relay.

The McKinney, Texas native clocked a 20.37 to win the men's 200m event, placing third on this year's collegiate list. Simms also contributed to the Bulldogs NCAA-leading 4x400 meter relay that finished at 3:01.15, which ranked third in school history. Simms clocked a third-leg split of 43.98 serves as the second-fastest third-leg split in collegiate history. 

Fellow freshman Le'Ezra Brown was named Men's Freshman of the Week for the second consecutive week after an impressive finish in the men's 110m hurdles. 

The Greensboro, N.C. native reset the school record twice in the men's 110m hurdles. Brown clocked a 13.23 wind-legal finish in the prelims, then posted a 13.22 wind-legal finish to take the event win. This serves as the top wind-legal time in the NCAA and ranks second in the 2026 World Rankings.

Over in the field, graduate transfer Kimani Jack was named Men's Co-Field Athlete of the Week following setting an NCAA lead in the men's high jump.

The London, England native set the 2026 Outdoor NCAA lead, clearing 2.24m/7-4.25 in his outdoor debut. Jack moved into a tie at No. 8 on Georgia's all-time top 10 list. 

On the women's side, freshman Adaejah Hodge earned the Women's Runner of the Week title from her record-breaking performance in the women's 200m dash.

The Douglasville, Ga. native clocked a wind-legal 22.10 in the women's 200 meter dash, passing Georgia's Debbie Ferguson in the UGA record book who previously set the record in 1999 at 22.19. Her time also ranks second in the 2026 world standings, leads the collegiate rankings, and places her No. 11 on the all-time NCAA list. Additionally, Hodge also improved her own British Virgin Islands national record.

The Bulldogs split this upcoming weekend. Sending a small distance delegation to Winston Salem, N.C. to compete in the Wake Forest Invitational April 16-17. The remaining bulldogs will head south for an annual trip to Florida's Tom Jones Memorial scheduled for April 17-18.
