Dogs Set Eight Personal Records to Finish Yellow Jacket Invitational

ATLANTAÂ --- The Bulldogs finished a strong showing in their indoor season opener to wrap up the Yellow Jacket Invitational in Atlanta on Saturday.

Georgia won eight events at the George C. Griffin Track during the Bulldogs' outdoor opener.

Junior Alencar Pereira started the day off strong for the Bulldogs, winning the men's hammer throw with his second attempt, measuring 65.22 meters (214ft-0in).Â

Julia Harisay and Elsie Igberaese continued the strong start of the Bulldogs, both notching personal records in women's discus. Junior Harisay placed second, launching her first attempt 47.79 meters (157ft-4in) to become UGA's number 10 all-time in the event. Igberaese, a redshirt sophomore, threw 46.16 meters (151ft-5in) in her collegiate outdoor debut.Â

On the track, Junior Destiny Jackson and Senior Halle McClintock also achieved personal records in the women's 400-meter. Jackson secured third for the Bulldogs with a time of 54.14. McClintock also finished in the top-10 with a time of 56.24.Â

Sophomore Caleb Cavanaugh won the men's 400-meter with a new personal record time of 46.71. Â

Georgia secured three spots in the top-10 of the women's 200-meter. Freshman Kenondra Davis took first with a personal record time of 23.22. Davis' time propels to her to eighth all-time for UGA. Brandee Presley secured second with a time of 23.62. Eddiyah Frye also set a new personal record in the event (24.58).

Senior Delano Dunkley kept up the fast pace for the Bulldogs in the men's 200-meter, placing second with a time of 21.35.

Ana da Silva continued her strong showing for the Bulldogs, winning her second event to close out the weekend. The senior set a new personal record of 62.92 meters (206ft-5in) to win the women's hammer throw. Da Silva's distance is number seven all-time for the Bulldogs, the best since 2017. Â
