No. 4 Georgia Falls to No. 10 Delaware State, Beats Lynchburg

November 18, 2022 | Equestrian

FELTON, Del. — The No. 4 University of Georgia equestrian team competed in two meets in Delaware on Friday. In the first matchup, the Bulldogs fell to No. 10 Delaware State, 11-8. In a single discipline competition against the University of Lynchburg, the Georgia Jumping Seat squad won 9-1.

Jordan Toering and Emma Riechow collected two Most Outstanding Performer honors each on the day.  Toering won both Flat MOP honors against DSU and Lynchburg and Reichow received the honors in Fences from both meets.

"Well again there were some things we need to continue to close the door on. We have to eliminate errors, have to create our own work. I think there are some places we really did approve upon the last week, in the sense of riding harder, being willing to be risky, and overcoming some adversity," Georgia head coach Meghan Boenig said. "But, you can't let a moment come in and unfortunately we had a few enough moments that it creates an opportunity for Delaware State. Certainly this is gonna be something for us to go home and think about and make some adjustments to come out that much stronger, which is very fortunate to have that opportunity to build upon."

"What a great opportunity to come back out and compete after this morning and kind of clean up some things that we wanted to clean up overall," Boenig added. "I thought that this was some strong riding. I am really, really proud of the execution, there were some difficult tests in here and so I had to be very, very thoughtful. I am grateful for this opportunity to kind of improve upon the morning and saw some great rides."
