No. 3 Bulldogs Battle Tigers in Baton Rouge

The Bulldogs' Sunday match against Texas A&M has been postponed due to a combination of positive tests, contact tracing and subsequent quarantining of individuals within the Texas A&M women's tennis program, consistent with Southeastern Conference COVID-19 management requirements.
The Tigers will host Georgia with a 9-2 record overall and a 4-2 record in conference play with wins over Kentucky, Vanderbilt, South Carolina and Mississippi State. LSU has two players ranked in singles with Taylor Bridges leading the way at No. 41 and Safiya Carrington coming in at No. 83. In doubles, one duo is ranked for the Tigers in Eden Richardson and Nina Geissler coming in at No. 14. The last time these two squads faced off was in 2019 in the SEC Tournament with the Bulldogs sweeping LSU 4-0. Georgia also defeated LSU 4-2 during the regular season the same year.Â
Last time out, Georgia went 2-0 over the weekend defeating No. 27 Florida 4-1 and No. 35 South Carolina 4-0. The Bulldogs have yet to lose a doubles point this season, winning 10-straight.The Bulldogs stayed at No. 3 in this week's ITA rankings continuing their streak of 60 straight weeks ranked in the top-10. The SEC has all 14 teams ranked in the top-50: Georgia (3), Vanderbilt (11), Auburn (18), LSU (19), Arkansas (20), Tennessee (23), Texas A&M (25), Florida (27), Ole Miss (30), Kentucky (31), Mississippi State (36), South Carolina (39), Missouri (41), Alabama (48).
Georgia will enjoy a weekend of rest before returning to action on March 26 against Kentucky and March 28 against Vanderbilt.
