Baton Rouge, La. – The No. 3 Georgia women's tennis team swept No. 19 LSU 4-0 to improve to 10-1 on the season and 6-0 in conference play Friday evening. Bulldogs are now 4-1 against top-25 foes.
The match was clinched by senior Katarina Jokic who dominated her third set after splitting the first two, winning 6-3, 3-6, 6-0 over No. 41 Taylor Bridges bringing her to 4-0 against opponents ranked in the top-50 and five wins away from earning herself 100 career wins.
Sophomore Lea Ma was first to finish her match, defeating No. 83 Safiya Carrington 7-5, 6-3 on court two. Junior Meg Kowalski pushed her winning streak to 20 singles wins dating back to the 2019 season after defeating Paris Corley 6-3, 7-5 on court three. No. 73 senior Morgan Coppoc, No. 50 graduate Marta Gonzalez and graduate Elena Christofi all went unfinished in their matches.
In doubles, the Bulldogs took home their eleventh-straight doubles point with wins from Ma and Kowalski winning 6-3 on court three against Maggie Cubitt and Samantha Buyckx and freshman Ariana Arseneault and Jokic defeating No. 14 Eden Richardson and Nina Geissler 6-3 on court one. Jokic and Arseneault are currently 3-0 against top-25 duos this season. No. 37 Christofi and Coppoc went unfinished in their match.
Georgia will have a weekend break before returning to action with a pair of road matches beginning with Kentucky on March 26 and Vanderbilt on March 28.
