GymDogs Set for NCAA Regional in Athens

ATHENS, Ga. --- The eighth-ranked University of Georgia gymnastics team will compete at the NCAA Athens Regional at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 5 at Stegeman Coliseum.
 
As the No. 2 seed, Georgia will compete in the in the afternoon session of the second round with No. 9 Kentucky, Missouri, and Iowa State.
 
In 35 all-time regional appearances, Georgia has won 24 regional championships and finished second 11 times.  Last year, in the first season of head coach Courtney Kupets Carter, the GymDogs advanced through the Tuscaloosa Regional and finished seventh at the NCAA Championships. Georgia entered the NCAA Tuscaloosa Regional ranked 18th and beat No. 7 Michigan to finish second behind Alabama and punch their ticket to the NCAA National Championship.

The evening session of the second round, scheduled to start at 7 p.m. will include top-ranked Oklahoma, No. 16 California, Maryland, and the winner of the first round.  

The top two teams from each second round session will advance to the Regional Final at 7 p.m. on Saturday, April 6.  The top two teams will then advance to the NCAA Championships April 19-20 in Fort Worth, Texas.
