Georgia softball finished last week 4-1 at Jack Turner Stadium. Georgia began the week with a 7-1 win over Presbyterian. The 10th Annual Bulldog Classic begin with an eight-inning loss to Virginia Tech. The Bulldogs avenged the loss on Saturday with a five-inning, run-rule shutout of the Hokies. Georgia defeated UAB in back-to-back games to wrap up the tournament 3-1.Â

Coaching Connection
Head coach Lu Harris-Champer will face off against her alma mater this weekend when the Bulldogs play Western Illinois. Harris-Champer graduated from WIU in 1989 where she played three years after transferring from Mesa Community College in California. She later spent five years as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for the then-Westerwinds. During that span, the Westerwinds were 156-98, won the 1992 Gateway Conference tournament, the 1993 Mid-Continent Conference regular-season and tournament crowns and the 1996 Mid-Continent Conference West Division title.Â

Chasing 1,000
Currently at 994 program wins, Georgia softball will look to record the 1,000th victory in program history in this season. Georgia will look to become only the fifth Division I program competing since 1996 or later to reach the 1,000-win mark. That group includes SEC programs Alabama, Tennessee, Florida, and LSU.Â

The Sprint to 10 Home Runs
In the Mar. 6 game at Georgia Tech, Alyssa DiCarlo hit her 10th home run of the season. She reached the 10-home run plateau in 21 games, tying Alisa Goler to the fastest Bulldog to 10 home runs in a season (2009).Â

You Shall Not Pass!Â
With a 14.50 strikeout-to-walk ratio, Kylie Bass ranks third in the country. Her 0.58 walks allowed per seven innings also ranks among the best in the NCAA at seventh.Â
Walk It Out
Averaging a walk per game, Alyssa DiCarlo ranks second in the country (first in the SEC) in the category. Freshman Lacey Fincher comes in at 16th nationally (fourth in the SEC) with 0.90 per game.Â

Freshman Savana Sikes is currently tied for second in the country with four sacrifice flies in her rookie season. That figure leads the SEC.Â

Georgia currently leads in the nation in scoring (8.95 runs per game) and third in slugging percentage (.630). Additionally, the Bulldogs rank sixth in on base percentage (.451) and eighth with 1.48 home runs per game. Individually, Alyssa DiCarlo ranks fifth in the country in home runs (10) along with being fifth in total RBI (29) and slugging (1.148).

DiCarlo Leads Active Career Leaders in RBI and Total Bases
Senior Alyssa DiCarlo leads active Division I softball student-athletes with 223 career RBI and 455 total bases. In additional categories, she ranks second in home runs (55), sixth in hits (235) and fifth in doubles (47).Â

A Triple Threat
Junior Ciara Bryan has 12 triples in her career as a Bulldog. That number ranks tied for fourth at Georgia. Among active career Division I players, that figure ranks ninth.Â

Baldwin Named to USA Softball U-19 Women's National Team Coaching Staff
USA Softball announced the coaching staff for the 2019 U-19 Women's National Team. Georgia associate head coach Tony Baldwin has been named to the staff as an assistant coach. Baldwin, who is currently in his fifth season with the Bulldogs, will make his first appearance on the USA Softball U19 WNT staff. Cindy Ball-Malone (Head Coach at UCF) and Tim Walton (Head Coach at Florida) will also serve as assistant coaches on the staff under head coach Heather Tarr (Head Coach at Washington). The U-19 team will look to become the first, three peat U-19 World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) Women's World Cup.Â

Alyssa DiCarlo (#15), Alysen Febrey (#26), and Justice Milz (#36) appeared in Softball America's 2019 Top 100 Players list, released prior to the start of the season.Â
