ATHENS, Ga. — The No. 24-ranked University of Georgia men's tennis team will travel to Columbus, Ohio, for its matchup against the No. 2-ranked Ohio State Buckeyes on Sunday, Feb. 10, at noon ET.
Georgia holds a 15-5 record over Ohio State, which includes the Bulldogs' upset victory over the Buckeyes last March at home. The Bulldogs shutout then No. 2-ranked Ohio State, 4-0.
The Bulldogs enter Sunday's match after blanking the Yellow Jackets, 4-0, at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex. Georgia's lineup against Georgia Tech included seniors Emil Reinberg and Jan Zielinski at the No. 1 and No. 2 spots, respectively. Freshman Phillip Henning played at No. 3, junior Robert Loeb at No. 4, senior Walker Duncan at No. 5 and freshman Blake Croyder at No. 6.
In singles, senior Zielinski leads the Bulldogs with an overall record of 19-7. In his last match, the Warsaw, Poland, native secured a third-set victory (3-6, 6-0, 6-3) over his Yellow Jacket opponent.
Two doubles teams helped secure a tight doubles point for Georgia. First, the Bulldogs' pair of Duncan and Henning grabbed a win at No. 2 doubles. The Georgia tandem of Loeb and Zielinski then fought off its Georgia Tech opponent, defeating the Yellow Jackets in a tiebreaker.
Georgia head coach Manuel Diaz heads to Ohio with 687 career wins, just shy of Dan Magill's 706 victories. Ohio State head coach Ty Tucker is in his 20th year coaching the Buckeyes.
Ohio State is 6-0 overall this season, including the team's most recent 6-1 victory over No. 9-ranked Stanford.
Next, the Bulldogs travel to Chicago, Illinois, for the ITA Team Indoors Tournament set to take place Feb. 15-18.
