Bulldogs Receive ITA Southeast Regional Honors

ATHENS, Ga. --- University of Georgia men's tennis Associate Head Coach Bryce Warren was named the ITA Southeast Regional Assistant Coach of the Year, while senior Will Jansen received ITA Most Improved Player and freshman Noah Johnston was named ITA Rookie of the Year.
The Bulldogs had much growth and success in Warren's third season as Associate Head Coach. Georgia was consistently ranked within the top 15, hosted the first and second rounds of NCAA Regionals and advanced to its first Super Regional since 2023. With his assistance, Jansen was named SEC Newcomer of the Year and earned ITA All-America honors in singles competition. He added two more All-America nods in doubles pairing Arda Azkara and Santiago Giamichelle. Three Bulldogs received All-SEC Honors: Jansen, Azkara, and Johnston.
Will Jansen was recognized as ITA Southeast Regional Most Improved Player after also being named SEC Newcomer of the Year and earning All-SEC second team recognition this season. The London native compiled a singles record of 15-4 with eight matches going unfinished on court two, and nine ranked wins. He finished the spring winning nine of his last nine completed matches and two unfinished on top of clinching the win in the first round of the Athens Regional. He and partner Gabriele Vulpitta went 15-8 in doubles and a 9-4 mark in conference play with five ranked wins. He was named a 2025 ITA All-American after reaching the round of 16 at the NCAA Singles Championships in the fall.
Johnston was named ITA Southeast Regional Rookie of the Year after also receiving SEC All-Freshman nods in his first season. He went 18-5 this spring with an 8-2 mark in SEC play. Of his 18 singles wins, he was either the first to add a point or clinched the win for the Bulldogs seven times. He went undefeated in the NCAA Tournament, contributing points in the first and second rounds of the Athens Regional to help send the Bulldogs to their first Super Regional in three years. His match at the Starkville Super Regional went unfinished with him up in the second set. He's had much success in doubles with partner Derrick Chen on court three this spring. The duo has compiled a 17-5 record and went undefeated in the NCAA Athens Regional.
