Bulldogs Face First Road Test At KSU On Wednesday

ATHENS-----Ninth-ranked Georgia faces its first road test now on Wednesday when it battles Kennesaw State at Stillwell Stadium at 5 p.m. The game was originally scheduled for Tuesday, but with rain in the forecast, it has been moved to Wednesday.
The Bulldogs enter the contest 3-0 while the Owls are 2-1. Georgia holds a 15-9 edge in the series history including winning both meetings last year. Georgia will start junior right-hander Tim Elliott (0-0, 0.00 ERA) while the Owls counter with senior right-hander Jake Rothwell (0-0, 0.00 ERA).

Team Notes:
*Georgia outscored Dayton 28-9 to post its first three-game series sweep to open a season since 2015 when the Bulldogs swept Eastern Illinois.
*The Bulldogs hit .343, fielded .983 and posted a 2.67 ERA in the sweep of the Flyers. Georgia beat Dayton 5-1 in the season opener and then with rain in the forecast played a doubleheader this past Saturday and won 10-7 and 13-1. Five Bulldogs hit safely in all three games.
*Georgia's starting pitchers combined to go 3-0 with a 1.53 ERA, allowing just three earned runs in 17.2 innings with three walks and 21 strikeouts.
*The Bulldogs posted a .983 fielding percentage with four double plays in the opening series. Last year, Georgia set a school record with a .979 fielding percentage.
*Georgia travels to Kennesaw State Wednesday and then returns home for a three-game series with UMASS Lowell. Georgia holds a 15-9 edge in the series history with the Owls.
*Ike Cousins Head Baseball Coach Scott Stricklin is in his 6th season at UGA and 15th season overall as a head coach. He celebrated his 47th birthday this past Sunday. He has 496 career wins.
Individual Notes:
*Junior 3B/Closer Aaron Schunk hit .417 (5-for-12) with four doubles, two RBI and one save in the sweep of the Flyers. He started all three games at third base and notched the final two outs of the 10-7 win in game one of Saturday's doubleheader.
*Redshirt sophomore RF Riley King led the team with a .636 average (7-for-11) with a home run and six RBI in the first three starts of his career. He redshirted in 2017 and was limited to six at bats last season due to knee and elbow injuries.
*Junior SS Cam Shepherd is batting leadoff this season and posted a .643 OB%, a .500 batting average (5-for-10) with two doubles, four walks and two RBI in the series sweep of Dayton.
*Senior 2B LJ Talley hit .400 (4-for-10) with a home run and 4 RBI in the Dayton series while redshirt junior 1B Patrick Sullivan batted .385 (5-for-13) with a home run and a team-best eight RBI. Entering 2019, Sullivan had 11 career RBI in 103 at bats.
*Sophomore RHP Emerson Hancock (1-0, 0.00 ERA) drew the Opening Day start and carried a no-hitter until two outs in the seventh. His final line: 6.2 IP, 2H, 0R, 1BB, 2K. Junior RHP Will Proctor (1-0, 3.60 ERA) started game two of the year and struck out a career-high nine in only five innings. Junior RHP Tony Locey(1-0, 1.50 ERA) started game three and tallied a career-high 10 strikeouts in going six innings and allowing one run on three hits with two walks.
*Georgia junior LF Tucker Bradley will be out this week due to a sprained right shoulder after diving for a catch Saturday.
