LANSING, Mich. — The Georgia women's golf team shot shot a combined 2-under 574 in Saturday's first and second rounds of the Mary Fossum Invitational at Forest Akers West Golf Course. The Bulldogs are tied for second in the 16-team field, three shots off the pace of Virginia.

Georgia will paired with the Cavaliers and Florida for Sunday's final round, which will begin with a shotgun start at 9:00 a.m.

"It's pretty exciting," head coach Josh Brewer said. "Tomorrow will be a great learning experience, either way. We're excited to be in the final pairing in September because that's exactly where you want to be in May."

The Bulldogs were sixth following a 4-over 292 in the morning but bounced back to fire a 6-under 282 in the afternoon. That second-round effort was the low loop in the field.

"I think the first round was a little lack of competition over the last six or seven weeks," Brewer said. "This afternoon, we got ourselves going again and probably felt more comfortable under par. We've been working hard on some really simple things. We challenged each other last night to continue to improve. We wanted to make sure we leave here better than we showed up. We're definitely headed in that direction."

Individually, Bailey Tardy is tied for third at 3-under 141, four shots behind Virginia's Anna Redding on the individual leaderboard. Gabriela Coello and Harmie Constantino are tied for 11th at even-par 144, Rinko Mitsunaga is tied for 16th at 1-over and Elisa Yang is tied for 46th at 152.

In the morning, Tardy's 2-under 70 paced the Bulldogs, who also counted a 73 from Mitsunaga, a 74 from Constantino and a 75, the tally recorded by both Coello and Yang.

Coello's 3-under 69, which equaled her career-low loop at Georgia, led the way in the afternoon. Constantino added a 70, Tardy shot 71 and Mitsunaga posted a 72 to round out the Bulldogs' counting rounds.

"Bailey's round this morning was key," Brewer said. "It showed everyone that under par rounds were definitely out there if we kept playing like we've been practicing over the past five weeks. Gaby had a great round this afternoon to lead us. I'm proud of all of them."
