Lady Bulldogs Battle Maryland In Puerto Rico

The 24th-ranked Georgia Lady Bulldogs basketball team will wrap up its trip to the Puerto Rico Clasico with a game against No. 7 Maryland on Saturday at noon ET.

Series History: Georgia and Maryland Meet for Only Fourth Time

Georgia and Maryland will face off for the first time since 1990 and for only the fourth occasion in program history. The Lady Bulldogs last played the Terrapins in the Bell Atlantic Holiday Classic in New Brunswick, New Jersey, where Georgia won 91-73. During the 1986 and '87 seasons the teams played a home-and-home series with Georgia winning 65-49 in Athens and Maryland victorious, 66-48, in College Park.

Scouting Maryland

The seventh-ranked Terrapins came to Puerto Rico with a 4-0 record and will play Morgan State on Friday. Maryland is coming off an 85-61 win at No. 10 South Carolina last Sunday. Six Terps scored in double figures, led by Blair Watson with 20 points, Kaila Charles with 17 and 10 rebounds and Stephanie Jones with 18 points. Shakira Austin grabbed 16 rebounds with 10 points and earned her second straight Big Ten Freshman of the Week honor.

What's Next for Georgia

Following the matchup with Maryland, the Lady Bulldogs return home for three-straight games. Georgia hosts Mercer on Wednesday, Nov. 28 at 7 p.m. ET and will welcome Charleston Southern on Sunday, Dec. 2 at 2 p.m. ET. Georgia will then play Furman on Dec. 4 for the team's last game before the 10-day exam break.

Taja Cole Off to Best Start in Her Career

Lady Bulldog redshirt-junior guard Taja Cole has picked up where she left off toward the end of last season when she scored in double figures in five of her last eight games entering the NCAA tournament. Cole is the Lady Bulldogs' leading scorer with 13 ppg, totaling four contests with 10 points or more. The Richmond, Virginia native is currently second in the SEC with 6.2 assists per game.

Robinson Inching Closer to Blocked Shots Record; Staiti Among SEC Leaders

Georgia's lone senior Caliya Robinson needs just 71 more blocks to break the school record of 297 set by Tawana McDonald. Robinson is not the only Lady Bulldog shot blocker. Jenna Staiti actually ranks third in the SEC in blocks with 12 total this season.

Trio of Players Get First Starts

The Lady Bulldogs have used all 11 available players in the early going this season with several getting their first starts. Sophomore guard Gabby Connally has started every game at the two spot, while fellow sophomore Maya Caldwell has started four times. In Georgia's last game against Morgan State on Thursday, freshman Caitlin Hose was inserted into the lineup after she played most of the second half against Georgia Tech.

Georgia Adds Top Prospects to 2019 Signing Class

The initial signing period was a good one for the Lady Bulldogs . Mitchellville, Maryland native and five-star guard Chloe Chapman inked with Georgia on Thursday. Chapman is widely regarded as one of the top prospects in the nation as the No. 28 overall recruit and No. 7 point guard according to ESPNW. Later in the week, Georgia announced the signing of five-star forward Javyn Nicholson from Lawrenceville, Georgia and Jordan Isaacs from Alpharetta, Georgia.
