STANFORD, Calif. -- Georgia carded a 298 in Saturday's second round of the Stanford Intercollegiate presented by Condoleezza Rice. The No. 4-ranked Bulldogs are tied with the No. 22 Arizona State in sixth at 591 on the team leaderboard entering Sunday's final round at the Stanford University Golf Course.

"This is the first time this season we've played in a consistent wind and/or rain," head coach Josh Brewer said. "It tells me we need to practice in these conditions. We've been a little slow to adjust, but this is a very demanding golf course right now. We have one more chance tomorrow to improve on it."

Rinko Mitsunaga and Bailey Tardy both signed for 1-over 72s to lead Georgia on Saturday. The other half of the Bulldogs' counters were a 75 from Mary Ellen Shuman and a 79 from Jillian Hollis.

Three Bulldogs are among the top-20 individuals. Shuman is tied for 16th at 4-over 146, while Tardy and Mitsunaga are tied for 18th at 147. In addition, Hollis is tied for 37th at 151 and Sammi Lee is tied for 87th at 167.

No. 8 UCLA leads the team field at 572 and owns a 11-shot advantage over No. 2 Stanford in second. Rounding out the top-10 teams are Cal at 589, No. 3 Southern Cal and No. 5 Florida at 590, the Bulldogs and Sun Devils at 591, No. 17 Northwestern at 592, No. 16 Oklahoma State at 596 and Iowa State at 597.

"The course is probably playing a little tougher than people expected," Brewer said. "There aren't as many good birdie opportunities as you've had in the past. At the same time, this is an NCAA qualify field, and we could be sitting in this position in May needing to play well to qualify for nationals or make match play at national championships. We need to play as well as we can tomorrow. We didn't come here to finish second, but that's a lot better than third."
