Here is the third installment of “Dawg Details.” These hope to offer fans and track and field followers a glimpse at some of our most outstanding Bulldogs in the field, on the track and off.
This Q&A features Morgann Leleux, who is a junior from New Iberia, La. (a town 130 miles west of New Orleans). Leleux is a three-time SEC champion pole vaulter and three-time First Team All-American who owns the outdoor school record at 14 feet, 6 ¾ inches and has jumped 14-9 indoors.
What is the first thing you think about when you wake up in the morning?
ML: I think I am like any coffee lover out there, when I wake up I think coffee! I can’t wait to get my hands on a fresh cup, but even the smell before wakes me up and gets me going. My favorite coffee is Starbucks dark roast Sumatra with little creamer and one or sometimes two, depending on my mood, scoops of sugar.
What is your biggest fear?
ML: My biggest fear is dying. Not the actual death part, but who I will be leaving behind.
What song would you pick to sing at Karaoke night?
ML: Right now my favorite song to sing to is Bruno Mars "Uptown Funk." I love all his music, but right now that song would be a blast to karaoke to.
What is the best gift you have ever given?
ML: I have given quite a few meaningful gifts but the latest and definitely one of the greatest was this Christmas. I tricked my fiancé into thinking we would wait until February to get the Yeti Hopper ice chest. I had a friend who could get the cooler at a discount later on and I had him completely convinced. Early Christmas week we convinced my fiancé that his dad received the Yeti Hopper from his boss as a gift. He was so mad he tried to convince his dad to give it to him and he would give his dad the one in February. Well, Christmas morning we had it sitting out in the living room with a Beats Pill speaker and he almost cried he was so excited.
Do you have a pet-peeve? If so, what is it?
ML: Leaving dirty dishes in the sink drives me crazy!
How do you feel about surprises? When have you been most surprised?
ML: I love surprises as long as I have no clue about them. If I know just a hint that a surprise will be coming at some point but I do not know when, that drives me crazy. I feel like I have to know now. On May 24th, 2014, the love of my life surprised me outside the church that we plan on getting married in in New Orleans with both our parents holding signs saying, "Will you marry me?" Not to mention he somehow found a way to get the ring of my dreams. I had no Idea it was coming so early, so it was by far the best surprise ever!
What is your favorite board game or card game to play?
ML: Cards Against Humanity is by far my favorite card game.
What motivates you to work hard?
ML: I have a strong support system at home that motivates me, but also wanting to be number one and leaving some type of legacy behind to remember me by is definitely what motivates me on a day to day basis.
What do you think is your best feature or characteristic?
ML: I'm very athletic which I am very thankful for. But I love and know how to dance too which I am proud of.
If you could choose a super power, what would it be and why?
ML: My super power would be to fly. I wanted to fly all on my own without a plane or a pole even before I knew about planes and poles. Pole vaulting definitely comes as close as I can to flying and I think that's why I love it so much!
