Perry Waddell was elevated to Executive Assistant to the Head Coach for Georgia’s track and field program in July 2022 after serving as a team manager from 2017-22.
A native of Bainbridge, Ga., Waddell earned his Bachelor of Education in Sport Management from UGA in 2020 and then his Master of Science in Sport Administration from the same institution in 2022. He originally moved to Athens during his high school years in 2016 and has called the Classic City home ever since.
Waddell worked for the UGA Athletic Association’s Promotions office during his first two years at Georgia. In 2017, he joined the Bulldog track and field team as a manager and stayed in that role for the rest of his undergraduate years until 2020. Thanks to his passion for track and field, the former high school runner continued with UGA’s squad as a graduate manager from 2020-22.
During Waddell’s stretch as manager with the Bulldogs, Georgia won its first national team championship on both the men and women’s side in 2018. The Bulldogs also posted seven top-five NCAA team finishes during that stretch, including a runner-up showing for the women at the 2018 NCAA Outdoor Championships.
