ATHENS, Ga. --- Four Bulldog track and field student-athletes collected Southeastern Conference weekly honors following the indoor season-opening Clemson Invitational, according to a league announcement.

Who won what SEC weekly honors?: Senior sprinter Dejanea Oakley was named the Women's Runner of the Week; freshman sprinter Jonathan Simms was named the Men's Runner of the Week; freshman sprinter Sidi Njie was named the Men's Freshman of the Week; and freshman hurdler/sprinter Maddi Cooper was named the Women's Co-Freshman of the Week.

Earlier this week, Oakley was named the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Women's National Athlete of the Week and Simms garnered the national men's accolade.

Oakley, a native of Clarendon, Jamaica, ran a school record and 2026 world leading 35.94 to win the 300-meter dash and move to No. 4 on the all-time collegiate list.  She became the third-best Jamaican performer in the event with her weekend performance.

Simms, a native of McKinney, Texas, made his Bulldog debut by winning the 400m with a World Under-20 indoor record 44.62, leaving the rest of the Clemson field behind by more than two seconds.  His time puts him No. 4 on the collegiate all-time list, as the current world leader for 2026 and No. 2 in Georgia's all-time record books.  Simms also ran a 44.35 during his leg on the 4x400m relay to help Georgia take second place.

Njie, a native of Atlanta, won the 300m with a World U20 and school record 32.10.  His time stands No. 1 in the world this year and is No. 2 on the all-time collegiate list.

Cooper, a native of Atlanta, ran the country's third-fastest 60m hurdle time this year (8.10, country's top freshman) during the prelims at Clemson.  This is the fifth-fastest time for Georgia in history and the fastest for the school since2021.

What's Up Next?: Georgia will return to action at the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Invitational in Albuquerque, N.M., on January 23-24.  Another group will also return to Clemson for the Orange & Purple Invite.
