QUICK KICKS
Sunday with the Rebs
No. 21 Georgia returns to the road Sunday to face Ole Miss in Oxford, the first meeting between the programs since a 1-0 Georgia home win in 2022. The Bulldogs are looking for their first victory in Oxford since a 2-0 win on Oct. 5, 2012, while also seeking to extend their eight-match unbeaten streak in true road matches dating back to last season. Georgia is also looking to earn three consecutive SEC shutouts for the first time since October 2022.

Rare Territory
After topping Kentucky Thursday in Athens, Georgia enters the Ole Miss match with a 2-0 SEC record, the first time the Bulldogs have won their first two conference matches since 2013. Georgia has only started a league slate 3-0 on two occasions: 2001 and 2007, with the latter squad beginning their season with an eventual 5-0-1 mark. This season also marks the fifth time in program history Georgia has shut out its first two SEC opponents (1999, 2010, 2012, 2013, 2025), while a shutout of Ole Miss would set a new top mark of three straight to start.

Cardiac Cats
Georgia opened its home conference slate with a dramatic 1-0 victory over Kentucky Thursday evening in Athens. With both sides locked in a tight defensive struggle, Ava Stack's 79th minute goal, assisted by Cate Hardin, proved to be the difference. Stack led all players with four shots, while the teams combined for only four shots on frame, the fewest in a Georgia match since a 0-0 result against Auburn on Oct. 26, 2023. The lack of opportunities included Summer Denigan tallying zero shots for the first time this season, following a career-high seven at Texas A&M. The win extended Georgia's unbeaten streak against Kentucky to eight straight, while Hannah Folliard and the Bulldog backline secured its sixth shutout of the season.

O Captain! Our Captains!
Georgia posted an auspicious SEC debut on Sept. 12, besting Texas A&M, 3-0, in Bryan-College Station with goals from all three team captains. It was the largest margin of victory for the Bulldogs in a conference match since a 3-0 win at Kentucky on Oct. 23, 2022, as well as the first SEC match with three goals since 2023. Cate Hardin opened the scoring in the seventh minute as she headed in a corner from Mya Townes, who earned her first career assist. For Hardin, it was her second career goal, following her previous score that came nearly three years earlier on the same field. In the second half, Kiera Staude scored her fifth goal of the season, followed four minutes later by a beautiful goal from Summer Denigan off services from Hardin and Staude. For her performance, Hardin was named to TopDrawerSoccer's National Team of the Week Honorable Mention.

Dawg Bites
  • Georgia is one of only four P4 programs to feature two 17-year-old players: goalkeeper Hannah Folliard and forward Ava Stack. Folliard has tallied 19 saves in six shutouts in nine starts, while Stack has started the previous two matches and scoring the winner versus Kentucky. The youth movement has marked Georgia's season in general, with five freshmen starting against the Aggies and eight taking the field in the match.
  • The Kentucky win saw a pair of Georgia milestones: first, Cate Hardin surpassed the 5,000-minute mark as a Bulldog with 86 minutes on the field, while head coach Keidane McAlpine won his 40th match with the program.
  • Graduate defender Laila Booker, who is expected to return Sunday, led the Georgia backline in her Bulldog debut, holding UCLA to only seven shots on goal while playing 88 minutes. During her career at Yale, Booker played a full match on 37 occasions, including a nine-match streaking stretching from the end of the 2023 season to the beginning of 2024.
