No. 7 Georgia Faces Presbyterian Tuesday At Foley Field

April 07, 2025 | Baseball

ATHENS, Ga.-----Seventh-ranked Georgia returns to action Tuesday when Presbyterian visits Foley Field. First pitch will be at 3:02 p.m. (SECN+).

The Bulldogs (29-5, 8-4 SEC) are coming off a road sweep at the hands of then No. 5 Texas. Georgia entered that series among the national leaders in scoring, averaging 10.5 runs a game.  However, Texas held Georgia to eight runs and a .156 batting average (15-for-96). Georgia's pitching was adequate, limiting the Longhorns to a .211 mark, but UT posted wins of 5-1, 7-4 and 4-3 in 10 innings. The Blue Hose won a series over Longwood this past weekend to improve to 16-17. In the series history, Georgia leads PC 21-4. PC won the first four contests in 1943 and since then the Bulldogs have won 21 straight including a 4-3 decision last year.

UGA-PC Pitching Matchup
Zach Harris (2-0, 3.55 ERA), Jr., RHP vs. JJ Harrell (0-1, 6.46 ERA), Fr., LHP
Harris makes his eighth appearance including his fifth start. He started Opening Day in place of Kolten Smith who was a late scratch. Harris pitched 4.0 innings versus Quinnipiac. His last three starts have all been part of staff outings. He got the win last Tuesday against Queens as the Bulldogs employed seven pitchers. On the year, Harris has thrown 12.2 innings with seven strikeouts and six walks. Harrell makes his second start for the Blue Hose. In 15.1 innings, he has 16 strikeouts and 15 walks.

Quick Look At The Offense
The Bulldogs are batting .310 with .601 slugging percentage and 87 home runs. They have a .455 OB% with 214 walks, been hit 84 times plus are 45-for-50 in SBs. The team's leading hitters are roommates Ryland Zaborowski (.412-14-49, .918 SLG%) and Robbie Burnett (.336-15-49, 29 BB, 17 HBP, 11 SB). Texas' pitching shut down the Bulldogs. Still, Zaborowski and Burnett rank among the NCAA leaders in home runs, slugging percentage, on base percentage and RBI.  Recently, Zaborowski was named the NCBWA Hitter of the Month for March, to the Golden Spikes Award Midseason Watch List and a midseason All-American by multiple outlets. Burnett made the second team midseason All-America lists too.
Georgia entered the UT series as the NCAA leader in home runs but only hit three (all solo shots) in the pitcher-friendly Disch-Falk Field. Graduate Nolan McCarthy (.333-8-30) hit two of them. Also of note, Tre Phelps (.305-5-26) who reached base safely in the first 27 games this year, has missed the last seven games due to a hamstring injury.
PC is batting .290 with 22 home runs, a .420 slugging percentage and a .375 on base percentage. They are 47-for-64 in stolen base attempts. The leading hitter for PC is Jake Randolph (.398-2-24, 6 SB) and Trey Fenderson (.371-1-15, 8 SB).
