No. 6 Bulldogs Start Another Five-Game Week

ATHENS, Ga.-----Sixth-ranked Georgia begins another five-game week Wednesday when it travels to Georgia State and then has a four-game set starting Friday afternoon at Foley Field with Florida Gulf Coast.
The Bulldogs (8-1), a consensus top 10 team, began this season with five road games before sweeping a four-game home series from UIC. Georgia went 3-1 in Wilmington to open 2025 and then beat Kennesaw State (KSU) in Marietta before playing its first home series. First pitch against the Panthers will be at 4 p.m.
The Panthers are 5-1 and play host to KSU Tuesday. After the game with the Panthers, Georgia will battle FGCU (4-3). The Eagles play Miami in Coral Gables Wednesday. The pitching plans for the games this week are TBA.
Series Record Versus This Week's Opponents
Georgia leads the all-time series with the Panthers 49-9 since 1971. Georgia won both meetings last year, 15-0 in Atlanta and 10-1 in Athens. The Bulldogs have not faced FGCU.
Heating Up At The Dish
Last week, Georgia went 5-0 by batting .363 with 13 home runs and a .493 OB%. The pitching staff posted a .315 ERA and registered 58 Ks and 19 BBs in 40 IP. For the year, the Bulldogs are batting .295 with a .535 SLG%, a .458 OB% plus are 17-for-19 in SB. On the mound, Georgia has a 3.12 ERA with 94 Ks and 39 BBs in 75 IP. Georgia is fielding an SEC-best .990.
Georgia's leading hitters are Ryland Zaborowski (.455-2-15), Slate Alford (.423-1-11) and Henry Hunter (.400-2-6). Alford and Devin Obee are co-leaders in walks with 12 while Robbie Burnett is a team-best 8-for-9 in stolen bases plus has been hit eight times.
A Look At The 2025 Bulldogs
Now in year two of the Wes Johnson era, the Bulldogs are 51-18 overall including an impressive 37-7 at Foley Field. Last year, Georgia went 33-7 at home.
Twelve different position players have started a game for the 2025 Bulldogs while 20 pitchers have seen action. Georgia's lineup last weekend featured eight of the same starting nine with catcher the lone exception. Kolby Branch (SS), senior Robbie Burnett (2B/OF), sophomore preseason All-American Tre Phelps (3B/OF/DH), Kentucky graduate Nolan McCarthy (OF), Duke graduate Devin Obee (OF), senior preseason All-SEC Slate Alford (3B/2B), Miami, Ohio graduate Ryland Zaborowski (1B/DH) and FAU graduate Christian Adams (DH/1B) comprised most of the lineup. Catcher Henry Hunter has started seven games while C/1B/OF Daniel Jackson has made two starts behind the plate. Junior Ryan Black (2B) is making an impact of late after missing time in the preseason due to a hand injury while Cade Brown (DH) is the lone freshman with a start.
In their last contest, the Bulldogs began the game with a natural team cycle. Black led off with a single; Alford smashed a double; Burnett followed with a two-run game-tying triple; and Jackson cranked a two-run home run for a 4-2 lead in an eventual 17-3 rout.
