ATHENS, Ga. — After coming back from 3-0 down to level the match, the No. 1 Georgia women's tennis team suffered its first loss of the season, falling 3-4 to No. 8 North Carolina at the Lindsey Hopkins Indoor Tennis Facility on Saturday.

The Bulldogs fell at home for the first time since Mar. 27, 2022, against Texas A&M.
Georgia dropped the doubles point for the first time this season, falling on courts one and two.
Aysegul Mert earned her first career ranked win over the Tarheels' No. 23 Tatum Evans, 7-5, 7(8)-6(6). Mert has contributed a singles victory in each of the Bulldogs' first four dual matches this season.
No. 29 Anastasiia Lopata battled back from a set down to win, 3-6, 6-4, 6-2, against North Carolina's Alanis Hamilton on court three.
No. 60 Guillermina Grant earned her first victory of the season over North Carolina's Claire Hill on court six in a tight 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 match, leveling the Bulldogs at 3-3 in the match.
