No. 1 Bulldogs Sweep Northwestern, Advance to ITA National Team Indoors Quarterfinal

EVANSTON, Ill. — The No. 1 Georgia women's tennis team hopped back in the win column, securing a 4-0 sweep over Northwestern in the ITA National Team Indoor Championships round of 16 at the Combe Tennis Center on Friday.

The Bulldogs now level the all-time series against the Wildcats at 4-4.
In doubles, Georgia struck first as Dasha Vidmanova and Mell Reasco combined for the first time this season, taking a 6-3 victory over #64 Britany Lau and Mika Dagan Fruchtman on court one. After the Bulldogs fell on court two, #57 Aysegul Mert and Hayden Mulberry rallied back to take a hard-fought 7-5 win over Neena Feldman and Kiley Rabjohns on court three to secure doubles point for Georgia.
In singles, #1 Vidmanova was dominant from start to finish as she cruised past Dagan Fruchtman, 6-0, 6-0, on court one to double the Bulldogs' lead at 2-0.
Over on court six, Sofia Rojas stamped her name on the match as she defeated Autumn Rabjohns, 6-4, 6-1, to put Georgia one point away from victory at 3-0.
#37 Anastasiia Lopata earned her second-consecutive victory in singles play, knocking off Erica Jessel, 6-3, 6-2, on court two to secure the sweep for the Bulldogs.
With the double point clinching victory, Mert notched her 50th-career win as a Bulldog in doubles play.
