  • The Bulldogs are 2-0 in ACC/SEC Challenge contests, including a dramatic 68-66 win over the Seminoles two seasons ago in Tallahassee when Georgia rallied from a 17-point deficit with less than seven minutes remaining to win on Justin Hill's jumper with 1.5 seconds left.
The Opening Tip

The Georgia Bulldogs – the nation's most explosive offense to date during the 2025-26 season – take to the road for the first time on Tuesday when they trek to Tallahassee to face Florida State in the ACC/SEC Challenge.

Georgia enters December leading the nation in three point production categories – scoring offense (99.0 ppg), fastbreak points (29.6 ppg) and bench scoring (45.4 ppg). The Bulldogs also are the top rim protectors in the country, averaging 8.8 blocks per game – 0.8 bpg better than the rest of the 364 Division I teams.

Georgia features the nation's deepest Power Conference rotation while playing at a breakneck pace among the quickest in college basketball.

Among the 79 Power Conference programs, the Bulldogs are the only team with a 11 players averaging double-figure minutes and all of those players seeing action in every game. According to the oft-used metric KenPom.com, Georgia enters the week ranked No. 4 nationally in both adjusted tempo (75.3) and average offensive possession length (13.8 seconds).

It would be hard to fathom a better beginning to the 2025-26 campaign for Georgia, at least statistically speaking. In addition to leading the country in the four aforementioned statistics, the Bulldogs are ranked among the nation's top-10 teams in nine of 28 stats tracked by the NCAA.

Georgia's depth is not just in numbers but also in its offensive production. Ten of the 11 Bulldogs playing double-digit minutes also have double-figure scoring outputs. Jeremiah Wilkinson and Blue Cain pace Georgia offensively, averaging 16.5 and 15.3 ppg, respectively. Three more Bulldogs are just shy of double figures, with Jake Wilkins averaging 9.5 ppg, Marcus "Smurf" Millender at 9.4 ppg and Kanon Catchings at 9.1 ppg.
Scouting The Seminoles

Florida State is 5-2 to date under first-year head coach Luke Loucks.

Lajae Jones leads an extremely balanced offense for the Seminoles which features four double-digit scorers. Jones is averaging 13.9 ppg, followed closely by Chauncey Wiggins and Robert McCray V both at 13.3 ppg and Kobe Magee at 11.3 ppg.

Like Georgia, the Seminoles play at a breakneck pace. KenPom also ranks FSU among the nation's top-10 teams in average offensive possession length (No. 6 at 14.1 seconds) and adjusted tempo (No. 9 at 74.5).

Georgia and Florida State both are among the nation's top-10 teams in takeaways. The Bulldogs are No. 6 in steals per game (11.5), while the Seminoles are No. 10 (12.0).
Series History With FSU

Florida State owns a 19-11 edge in matchups between the Bulldogs and the Seminoles, including a 10-3 advantage in Tallahassee.

Most of those 30 meetings – 27 to be exact – were in the '50s and '60s. UGA and FSU faced off multiple times every season from 1954-55 through 1965-66.

Following a 14-year hiatus, the Bulldogs and Seminoles split a "home-and-home" series during the 1980-81 and 1981-82 campaigns, with Georgia staging its contest at The Omni in Atlanta as part of the Cotton States Classic.

The Bulldogs won the most recent matchup, a 68-66 victory as part of the ACC/SEC Challenge two seasons ago in Tallahassee. Justin Hill's 15-foot jumper with 1.5 seconds remaining completed a miraculous rally from 17 points down with 6:37 remaining to defeat the Seminoles.
Last Time Out

Marcus "Smurf" Millender scored 22 points, dished out seven assists and recorded four steals on his 21st birthday and Georgia connected on a school-record 21 3-pointers in a 123-81 win over Tennessee Tech at Stegeman Coliseum on Sunday.

Georgia was 21-of-43 from 3-point range, both school-record totals. The previous mark for most makes was 19 against Fresno State on March 26, 1998 and the record for takes was 41 versus Texas A&M on March 2, 2024.

"I don't think that we've had any lack of confidence to this point or other than we really questioned ourselves," head coach Mike White said. "It just hadn't gone in at the rate we thought it would go in. Our guys are better players and shooters than that number indicated. I think some of it early on was a little bit of shot selection and some of it is, again, getting used to the tempo. It's new for everybody. Tonight we took a bunch of 'A-shots' and turned down some 'C-shots.'"
Dogs Are Nation's Top Point Producers...In Every Way Measured

The NCAA tracks scoring in three ways – overall, on fastbreaks and from the bench. In each of those categories, Georgia entered December ranked No. 1 nationally.

The Bulldogs are putting up 99.0 ppg through eight outings, with 29.6 of those coming on fastbreaks and 45.4 from Georgia's reserves.

Though bolstered by reaching 120 points twice, Georgia's scoring has been consistent. In 16 halves of hoops, the Bulldogs scored 40 or more points 15 times, with seven 50-point periods and three segments of 60 or more points.

Georgia played 102 games in Mike White's first three seasons in Athens. The Bulldogs reached 90 points nine times and 100 points twice. In eight games this season, Georgia has topped 90 points in six outings and surpassed the century mark in three contests.
Georgia Features Nation's Deepest Power Conference Rotation

Georgia is the only Power Conference team in the country that features an 11-player rotation with those players averaging double-figure MP and also seeing action in every game.

Only two of the other 79 teams in the ACC, Big 12, Big East, Big Ten and SEC have 10 players who have played in every game logging 10+ mpg – Clemson and Ole Miss.
Georgia Plays At One of the Nation's Quickest Paces

The Bulldogs average possession length on offense is currently 13.8 seconds, which according to KenPom.com is the fourth-fastest in the nation. The Bulldogs enter the week also ranked No. 4 by KenPom.com in "adjusted tempo" at 75.3 possessions per 40 minutes.
Georgia Among Nation's Top-10 In Nine Stats

Peruse the early-season NCAA basketball statistical leaders and you'll find a virtual myriad of categories featuring the Georgia Bulldogs near the top. Entering the week, Georgia is ranked in the nation's top-10 team in nine of the 28 stats the NCAA measures.

Perhaps more impressively, the Bulldogs are featured in the top-5 teams in five statistics, including leading the nation in scoring offense, bench points, fastbreak points and blocks per game as outlined below.

Double-Digit Dogs' Have Hit Double Figures

No less than 10 different Georgia Bulldogs recorded double-figure scoring outputs in the first seven games of the season.

Those Bulldogs have combined to produce 34 double-digit performances. Blue Cain leads that pack by scoring 10+ in each game, followed by Jeremiah Wilkinson with seven; Jake Wilkins with four; Kanon Catchings and Smurf Millender with three; Justin Bailey, Somto Cyril, Dylan James and Jordan Ross with two; and Kareem Stagg with one.

Seven of the aforementioned Bulldogs scored in double digits against Morehead State on Nov. 9.

That marked the first time seven Bulldogs hit the 10-point plateau in a single game since a 99-72 decision over Tennessee Tech on Dec. 29, 1994 – a span of 979 contests. Georgia came within a bucket of repeating that feet against...Tennessee Tech when six Bulldogs topped 10 and both Jake Somto Cyril and Wilkins finished with eight points.
Georgia Rewriting Its Scoring Records

The Bulldogs have produced two of their top-10 single-game scoring tallies ever during their first eight games of the 2025-26 season.

Georgia's 123 points against Tennessee Tech and 120 versus Morehead State rank No. 3 and No. 7 all-time in program history as outlined below.

Dogs Are SEC's Best At Stealing, Swatting

With Georgia leading the SEC in both steals and blocks per game, it would be a reasonable assumption individual Bulldogs are also among the league's best in those statistics.

Within Georgia's SEC-best 11.5 steals per contest, Jeremiah Wilkinson is ranked No. 2 in the league (2.5 spg) and Blue Cain is No. 5 (2.1spg). Also of note, Dylan James, who recorded 11 steals in 32 games last season, has already 10 takeaways in eight contests this year.

The Bulldogs' nation-leading 8.8 blocks per game as a team features Justin Abson and Somto Cyril tied as league leaders at 2.4 bpg, which also ranks them tied at No. 21 nationally.
The Dunkyard Dogs Finishing With Authority

According to BartTorvik.com, Georgia has scored 23.0 percent of its field goals this season on dunks – 62 of 268 the Bulldogs' total FGs – which ranks No. 2 nationally as outlined below.

Individually, sophomore Somto Cyril and freshman Jake Wilkins rank No. 7 and No. 41 in the country in dunks with 19 and 12 rim-rattling finishes, respectively.

Wilkins Windmill Dunks Are #SCTop10s

Mark down November 5, 2025 as the day Jake Wilkins made his first appearance in SportsCenter's top-10 plays as a Bulldog.

Mark down November 9, 2020 as the day Wilkins returned to #SCTop10 with an early candidate for college basketball's "dunk of the year."

On Nov. 5, Wilkins' breakaway, windmill dunk capped off the scoring in Georgia's 94-29 win over Maryland Eastern Shore and was tabbed as the No. 7 effort of the day. The highlight was matched up on the highlights with a similar effort by Dominique Wilkins from an NBA Slam Dunk contest.

Four days later, Wilkins accepted a lob from Jeremiah Wilkinson and instead of simply slamming it home added a windmill to the action for quality points. That ended up at No. 2 on SportsCenter, only topped by a bicycle kick goal scored in a snowstorm.
Preseason Analytics Like UGA

Coming off its best season in a decade, Georgia began 2025-26 with its highest projections ever by two of the most utilized college basketball metrics.

The Bulldogs were listed No. 32 by to BartTorvik.com and No. 44 by KenPom.com in preseason ledgers.

In Torvik projections dating back to 2008, Georgia's previous preseason high was No. 38 prior to last season.

In KenPom's, which began in 2002, UGA's best preseason listing was No. 27 in 2014-15.
A "Stegtacular" Home Court Advantage

Georgia's home court advantage? It's real and it's Stegtacular.

The Bulldogs have compiled a 47-13 home mark under Mike White and are a perfect 33-0 versus non-conference competition in Stegeman over his three-plus seasons at UGA.

White's success at Stegeman is not confined to his UGA tenure. He was 7-1 in Athens as a visiting head coach, leading Louisiana Tech to a 2014 NIT victory at Stegeman and compiling a 6-1 mark at Florida from 2015-22. That makes White is a combined 54-14 (.794) in Stegeman.

The Bulldogs were 15-3 in Athens last season, matching the program record for home wins in a single season. Georgia also won 15 home games during the 2013-14 and 2015-16 campaigns; however, those tallies include an NIT victory.

After producing just eight double-digit home winning streaks in Georgia's first 116 seasons of basketball, the Bulldogs have produced three double-digit winning streaks at Stegeman during Mike White's three seasons alone. Georgia currently owns an eight-game winning streak at Stegeman that began with two impressive victories last season over No. 3 Florida on Feb. 25 and Vanderbilt in the regular-season finale.
