INDIANAPOLIS – A pair of podium performances marked the third night of competition for the University of Georgia men's swimming and diving team at the 2024 NCAA Men's Swimming & Diving Championships Friday at the IU Natatorium.

Senior Jake Magahey earned his third First Team All-America citation of the week with a fifth-place finish in the 400-yard individual medley, setting a new personal best of 3:37.64 and moving to third all-time in program history. Earlier in prelims, Magahey placed sixth with a then-PB of 3:39.02. Beginning with his 3:44.15 in prelims at the UGA Fall Invitational, the Dacula native improved his 400y IM time in each subsequent race of the season.

In the 400y IM consolation final, fifth-year senior Ian Grum earned Second Team honors with a 12th-place time of 3:40.70.

Sophomore Ruard van Renen picked up First Team accolades in the 100y backstroke with a seventh-place mark of 44.75, improving upon his consolation final victory last season in Minneapolis. In prelims, van Renen placed third with a new PB of 44.21, the second-fastest time in program history behind Bulldog Luca Urlando's NCAA record of 43.35 from the 2022 NCAA Championships.

In prelims action, graduate Bradley Dunham finished 20th in the 100y backstroke with a time of 45.37, followed by Sam Powe in 39th place at 47.34. In the 200y freestyle, freshman Tomas Koski took 21st at 1:32.50, while junior Reese Branzell placed 30th with a 1:33.09.

In the closing 400y medley relay, van Renen, senior Connor Haigh, Dunham, and Branzell posted a time of 3:04.72, but were disqualified for an early takeoff on the third leg.

With one day of competition remaining, Georgia sits in 10th place with 88 points.

The NCAA Championships conclude Saturday with the 1,650y freestyle, 200y backstroke, 100y freestyle, 200y breaststroke, 200y butterfly, platform diving, and 400y freestyle relay. Dunham is seeded fourth in the 200y backstroke, followed by Grum in seventh, while Branzell holds the No. 10 seed. Saturday's session will also see the NCAA debut of junior Allen Mann on platform, the first Georgia male diver to compete at nationals in three years.

Prelims begin at 10 a.m., followed by diving prelims at noon, diving consolation at 5:15 p.m. and finals at 6 p.m. Live coverage will stream on ESPN+ with results available on GeorgiaDogs.com.
