Bulldogs Travel to San Francisco for The Goodwin

ATHENS, Ga. — The University of Georgia men's golf team will begin its penultimate tournament of the regular season at The Goodwin in San Francisco at TPC Harding Park, with play beginning on Thursday, March 28th.
 
The Bulldogs lineup will consist of graduates Connor CreasyBen van WykBeck Burnette, junior Buck Brumlow and freshman Camden Smith, with senior Caleb Manuel competing as an individual.

BULLDOG BULLETIN
The Goodwin: The event is held at TPC Harding Park, the site of the 2020 PGA TOUR Championship, which will be played in a traditional 54-hole format. Hosted at the TPC Harding Park course for the third time in a par-72, 7,169-yard format, each round will begin at 7:30 a.m. PT with a shotgun start. The Bulldogs will begin Thursday on hole six. 
 
Previously known as the United States Intercollegiate, The Goodwin was renamed in 2014 to honor former Stanford head coach Wally Goodwin who passed away in 2021.  The prestigious TCP Harding Park has hosted numerous PGA Tour events, including the 2009 Presidents Cup and the 2020 PGA Championship.
 
The field of 31 is comprised of host No. 44 Stanford, Appalachian State, No. 45 BYU, No. 2- California, California Baptists, Cal Poly, Clemson, Colorado, No. 15 Georgia Tech, Howard, Lipscomb, Little Rock, No. 49 Long Beach State, Nevada, No. 24 Oregon, Oregon State, Pepperdine, San Diego, No. 31 San Diego State, San Francisco, San Jose State, Santa Clara, TCU, No. 8 Tennessee, UC Davis, No. 27 UCLA, USC, Utah, Utah Tech and Washington State.
 
Dawgs in the Polls: On Scoreboard Powered by Clippd rankings, Georgia is currently rated No. 22 as a team. Van Wyk leads the team with a No. 95 ranking, fellow grad student comes in at No. 96, and junior Brumlow rounds out the Dawgs in the rankings at No. 101.
 
Last Time Out: The Georgia men's golf team earned its second top-three finish of the season with a 26-under-par, 838 result at the Linger Longer Invitational, with four Bulldogs finishing in the top 10 individually, the most of any team in the field. Georgia finished the third round on Tuesday afternoon after it shot seven-under, 281, the second-lowest team score on Tuesday. 
 
Graduate Creasy earned his third-straight top 10 result individually with a seven-under, 209 total to tie for seventh after a team-best final round of 69. Brumlow led the team on the player standings with a career-best placing of tied for fourth at eight under. The pair are joined by Smith, who finished with a personal best result of tied for sixth, and Burnette, who earned a Bulldog-best of t-10th.
 
No. 16 Alabama claimed the team title with a 40-under, 824 finish, a new tournament record. No. 13 Virginia finished in second after ending the tournament at 29-under, three strokes ahead of Georgia. No. 14 Georgia Tech and No. 47 UNC-Greensboro round out the top five. Only the top five finishers were the only ones of the 14-team field to finish with results under par.
 
Freshman of the Week: True freshman Smith remains in the team's lineup for The Goodwin following his t-6th finish at the Linger Longer Invitational. His finish marked a tied personal best and earned his recognition as the SEC Freshman of the Week on March 20th.
 
Brumlow and Behold: Junior Brumlow led the Bulldogs to a top 10 individual finish at the Linger Longer Invitational, with a score of 208 and 8-under par leading to his career-best finish of t-4th. Brumlow is set to compete in the lineup of five for Georgia this week.
