ATHENS, Ga. – On the final dive of NCAA Zone B Championships, junior diver Allen Mann punched his ticket to the NCAA Men's Swimming & Diving Championships Wednesday afternoon at Bauerle Pool at Gabrielsen Natatorium.
Mann finished ninth on platform with a score of 674.70, becoming the first Georgia male diver to reach NCAAs since Zach Allen on 1-meter in 2021. In the sixth round, the Bishop native needed to surpass 61 points to earn his spot at nationals, and he delivered with a score of 63.80 on the last dive of the round.
Mann, who had placed 16th in the event at the last two Zones, was consistent throughout the day, surpassing 50 points on 10 of his 12 dives, finishing seventh in prelims with a score of 335.10. His qualification gives Georgia 14 competing student-athletes at the men's nationals.
In prelims, freshman Matthew Bray closed out a solid rookie campaign with a 22nd-place score of 261.20, closing out his season with a 55.35 on his final dive.
Mann and senior Meghan Wenzel will now continue their seasons at the NCAA Championships. Wenzel will compete on 1-meter and 3-meter next Thursday and Friday in Athens, while Mann will compete on platform on Saturday, March 30 at IU Natatorium in Indianapolis.
