February 10, 2024 | Track & Field
CLEMSON, S.C. --- Georgia's track and field teams made five more improvements to the school's all-time top-10 lists and set a national record as the Tiger Paw Invitational wrapped up in Clemson, S.C., Saturday.
After a pair of national records were set by the Bulldogs on Friday, Kelsie Murrell-Ross broke her own Grenadian national record in the shot put and moved to third in the Georgia record books.
In addition, Georgia had its distance contingent run in the 800 meters and 3000m to close out the Music City Challenge in Nashville, Tenn., Saturday.

The Lowdown: Murrell-Ross sent her second attempt in the shot put 16.85 meters/55 feet, 3 ½ inches and her best effort of the day gave her the second-best collegiate finish (fourth overall) at the meet. This performance outdistanced her 16.42m/53-10.50 that was previously the national record from the second weekend of the season.
The national leader on the men's side, Alex Kolesnikoff, won his fourth consecutive shot put competition since joining the Bulldogs in the offseason. Kolesnikoff capped his series off with a sixth attempt of 19.97m/65-5.25 to win by four inches.
Already flying to the school's third best 400m in history this season, Aaliyah Butler shot to fourth on UGA's all-time top-10 list in the 200m thanks to her 22.80. This finish gave her silver on Saturday and moved her into the top 10 nationally. Also in the 200m, Kaila Jackson ran a season best 23.18 for ninth in the race.
The Lady Bulldog quartet of Kimberly Harris, Haley Tate, Sydney Harris and Butler won the 4x400m relay at the season-opening Clemson Invitational and mimicked that showing on Saturday. Georgia clocked a 3:29.28 to edge Texas A&M (3:29.58) for the win in the relay.
On the men's side, Mekhi Gammons, Christopher Morales Williams, Jordan McKenzie and Hossam Hatib passed the baton to a season-best time of 3:07.48 to take fourth in the 4x400m relay. The Bulldogs inched them to ninth on the school's all-time top-10 list. Both Morales Williams (Canada) and Hatib (Morocco) collected individual national records in the open 400m on Friday.
Posting a second try clearance at a season-best height, Elena Kulichenko took third in the high jump with a mark of 1.88m/6-2. This edged her into the country's top five this season.
First-year standout Riyon Rankin hit the 7-foot mark for the third time this season, clearing 2.15m/7-0.50 on her third and final try for third place.
Dominique Mustin made her Bulldog debut in the 800m and left the track with the eighth-best time in school history. She registered a 2:07.88 for runner-up honors.
In the triple jump, Zavien Wolfe built up to a personal record of 15.50m/50-10.25 to take ninth. This effort put Wolfe in the 10th spot by himself.
At the Music City Challenge, Zack Truitt completed his 800m in a personal best 1:51.61 to finish fifth.
