Georgia Falls in Close Battle at No. 7 Texas, 3-1

AUSTIN, Texas – The University of Georgia volleyball team took the opening set at No. 7 Texas on Sunday, but the Longhorns came back to win the match in four sets (25-23, 19-25, 20-25, 18-25).

Erykah Lovett tallied 15 kills in the contest while Texas native Bianna Muoneke put up 12 in the contest. Lovett added six digs on defense while Muoneke had eight.
Georgia recorded 13 team blocks, five of which came in the fourth set. Sophie Fischer had eight to lead the Dogs.
Down 20-10 in the opening set, Georgia stormed back to win the set 25-23, including a 7-0 run to make it a one-point set at 21-20.
The opening set was only the second set Texas had lost in SEC play this season and the first since Sept. 27 at Texas A&M.
The match featured 24 ties and eight lead changes, most coming in the third set (12 ties, 4 lead changes). Georgia led 20-18 in the third before Texas rattled off seven points to win the set.
Georgia tied the fourth set at 15, then Texas responded to finish the set winning 10 of the next 13 points.
