Seven Bulldogs Named to CSC Academic All-District Team

ATHENS, Ga. – Seven members of the University of Georgia men's and women's swimming and diving team were named to the 2023 College Sports Communicators Swimming & Diving Academic All-District Team, as announced by the organization Tuesday afternoon.
Graduate Callie Dickinson, junior Meghan Wenzel, and sophomores Abby McCulloh and Rachel Stege received women's team honors, while graduate Andrew Abruzzo and sophomores Jackson Bates and Nolan Lewis were named to the men's team. For Dickinson, this is her second-consecutive Academic All-District accolade.
The 2023 Academic All-District Team marks the first year swimming and diving has been recognized as a separate sport in voting. Previously, the sport was one of numerous considered for placement on the At-Large Team. All seven Bulldogs are now eligible for selection to the CSC Academic All-America Team, which will be announced on March 20 and 21.
Dickinson, a Virginia Beach, Virginia native, currently holds a 4.0 GPA as she pursues a master's degree in Comparative Biomedical Sciences, following a 3.92 accumulated during her undergraduate career. At the SEC Championships, she earned a silver medal in the 200 butterfly and bronze in the 800 freestyle relay. Wenzel, a Human Development and Family Science major from Hatfield, Pennsylvania, carries a 3.71 GPA and recently finished sixth on both 1-meter and platform at SECs. McCulloh, a Journalism major from Lilburn, carries a 4.0 GPA and placed fourth in the 1,650 freestyle in College Station, while Stege, a Finance major from Naperville, Illinois, holds a 3.77 GPA and won the SEC title in the 500 freestyle.
Abruzzo, a native of Plymouth Meeting, Pennsylvania, holds a 3.58 GPA as he pursues a master's degree in Business Analytics. In undergrad, he tallied a 3.55 GPA as a Finance major. Abruzzo recently reached the SEC championship final in the 200 butterfly and posted a top-10 time in school history at last week's Bulldog Invitational. Bates, an Athens native, carries a 3.70 GPA while pursuing a degree in Psychology, while Lewis, a Thomasville native, holds a 3.71 GPA in Marketing. Bates competed for Georgia in three events at SECs and Lewis placed ninth on 3-meter at the conference meet.
