Georgia Heads to SEC Championships in College Station

ATHENS, Ga. – Following successful first seasons for head coaches Stefanie Williams Moreno and Neil Versfeld, the University of Georgia swimming and diving teams travel to Bryan-College Station, Texas for the 2023 Southeastern Conference Swimming & Diving Championships at the Recreation Center Natatorium.
The SEC Swimming & Diving Championships begin Tuesday, Feb. 14 and run through Saturday, Feb. 18 with prelims sessions at 10:30 a.m. EST, followed by finals sessions at 6:30 p.m. EST, with the exception of Tuesday's finals starting at 5:20 p.m. EST. The Bulldogs will look to improve upon fourth-place finishes from both teams last season in Knoxville. The No. 13 Georgia men are highlighted by senior Ian Grum, who ranks first nationally in the 200 backstroke, and junior Jake Magahey, who ranks first in the 500 freestyle and second in the mile. Senior Zach Hils is seeded second in the 200 IM, while junior Wesley Ng holds the No. 2 conference rank in the 100 backstroke.
On the women's side, the No. 15 Bulldogs are led by senior Zoie Hartman, who has previously won seven SEC titles in her illustrious career. Hartman is seeded first in the 200 IM and second in both breaststroke events. Sophomore Eboni McCarty holds the No. 3 seed in the 50 freestyle and 100 backstroke, while fellow sophomore Abby McCulloh in second in the league in the mile. McCulloh is one of three Bulldogs to rank top-10 in the 1,650 freestyle, joining teammates Duné Coetzee and Rachel Stege. Graduate Callie Dickinson will also be an important racer with top-10 times in three events.
At the diving well, junior Meghan Wenzel will seek to best last year's performance, where she finaled on both 1-meter and platform. Wenzel has posted six dual wins this season and placed first on 1-meter at the Georgia Fall Invitational. Sophomore Nolan Lewis reached all three finals at the Georgia Diving Invitational, while fellow sophomore Rhett Hopkins and freshman Hannah Stumpf have each notched numerous personal best scores.
