Track & Field Teams Continue To Rewrite School Record Books

CLEMSON, S.C. --- Georgia's track and field teams tallied a flurry of top-three finishes and created revisions to the school's all-time top-10 lists  to highlight the opening day of action at the Tiger Paw Invitational in Clemson, S.C., on Friday.
 
In addition, a number of Bulldog distance and mid-distance runners competed during the first day of the Music City Challenge in Nashville, Tenn.
 
When Does The Action Begin Saturday: The second day in Clemson begins with the women's shot put at 10 a.m. ET.
 
The women's unseeded 3000 meters begins the day at the Music City meet at 9:30 a.m.

The Lowdown: Georgia's success came on the track and in the field on Friday.  Elija Godwin ran what would be country's second-fastest time this season entering the weekend to win the 400m.  The Covington, Ga., native completed his two laps in 45.63.
 
First-year sprinter Aaliyah Butler trimmed .03 off of her personal record in the 400m to post a faster No. 3 spot in the school record books.  Butler was 15th with a time of 52.92.
 
Elsie Igberaese opened her weight throw series with four fouls before finishing with the top mark of her career.  She sent her fifth attempt 19.57 meters/64 feet, 2 1/2 inches to finish sixth and improved her No. 7 spot in the school record books.
 
On the men's side, Alencar Pereira reached 21.28m/69-9.75 in the weight and was fourth.
 
In her final season in red and black, Titiana Marsh opened her round in the long jump up with a career-best mark that shot her to No. 8 in the school record books.  Marsh soared 6.48m/21-3.25 in the five-flight competition and ended up in second once the all six jumps were complete for the nine finalists. 
 
Bella Witt moved into the No. 5 spot in the school record books with a career best 8.20 to take ninth in the 60m hurdle semifinal, missing the final by one spot.  Witt was second in her heat during the prelims after crossing the line in 8.33.  Eddiyah Frye had a season best 8.36 to earn runner-up honors in her prelims group and then ran the same time in the semis.
 
During the 60m semifinal, Kaila Jackson finished first in her heat with the second-fastest time of the race (7.19) and fellow freshman Autumn Wilson was third in her group with a personal record 7.20, which bettered her No. 3 spot in the school record books.  Neither sprinter started in the final round.  Also of note, sophomore Kenondra Davis improved her No. 6 spot in the school record books with a 7.30 in the opening round.  
 
Running out of the third heat in the men's 60m prelims, Keshaun Black finished second with a 6.68 to punch his ticket to the semis.  He had a false start in the second round of races.
 
Music City Challenge: While school record holder Sam Bowers was 19th in the mile (4:05.23), KC Heron established the seventh-best time in UGA history (4:05.49) to come in 20th to highlight the day's first action in Nashville,
