On the team's resilience….
"I think that's been one of our strengths all year is just the bounce back and the resilience. Sometimes what we've talked about is bouncing back and recovering from success can be just as hard as recovering from failure. We talk all the time about recovering and getting back to neutral. While that was disappointing and hats off to [Georgia Tech] for getting the win, we had to get right back to a place in neutral that's just staying in our process and doing what we do. Really excited to get out there and play today and kind of get that behind us. Really proud of the way we competed today."
On the momentum shift against Illinois…
"It felt like an SEC-type of game where you just got to keep fighting the fight. [Illinois is] a good team, they have a good coaching staff and they're making things hard on us. At the end of the day that's what competition is. Keep staying in the fight, make adjustments, and believing that the next one's going to be the one to get you going. I thought we did that, I thought Jaiden [Fields] had a really good at bat there at the end. Sara [Mosley] obviously came through with the big hit. But we took some walks and I thought we did a lot of good things to keep putting ourselves in position to bust the game open and then finally we did."
On Madison Kerpics….
"So proud of her. We've been talking about it's a team game and it's a collective; it's our defense and our pitcher working together to try to put a zero on the board. There were some tough breaks, there were a couple of tough balls in there, and we made a couple mistakes on defense, but she just stayed in it. She kept commanding her pitches and kept being unpredictable with what she was throwing and gave us a chance to get out of it. I thought she was outstanding today of locating. I thought she was working all the different parts of the zone, changing speeds, and when she does that, she's awfully tough to hit."
