Event Timeline

ATHENS, Ga. – The University of Georgia swimming and diving teams face off against a talented field this weekend at the Georgia Fall Invitational, running Thursday, Nov. 17 through Saturday, Nov. 19 at Gabrielsen Natatorium.

For all three days of competition, the preliminary session will begin at 9:30 a.m. with finals starting at 5:30 p.m. Admission is free for all spectators. Results will be available on GeorgiaDogs.com and to paid subscribers on the MeetMobile app, while diving results will be available on DiveMeets.com. Each swimming and diving session of the invite will be streamed on SEC Network+.

No. 7/15 Georgia will be joined by No. 3/11 Florida, No. 19/21 Auburn, No. 21/NR Florida State, and Georgia Tech at the invitational. The Bulldogs have already faced off this fall against the Gators, Seminoles, and Yellow Jackets, winning five of those six contests.

Georgia returns to the water after splitting against Florida on Oct. 28, with the men prevailing, 156-144, and the women falling, 173.5-126.5. Senior Ian Grum and sophomore Abby McCulloh each earned SEC Swimmer of the Week honors after strong performances. Grum earned three wins, including a pair of top-10 national times, while McCulloh dropped the second-fastest 1,000 freestyle time nationally this season.

The Georgia men (5-1, 2-0 SEC) carry eight national top-10 times into the invitational, including three from junior Jake Magahey, who recently finished second in the 400m freestyle at the FINA World Cup in Indianapolis. Grum ranks third in the 200 backstroke and ninth in the 400 IM, while graduate Andrew Abruzzo stands eighth in the 200 butterfly. On the women's side, the Bulldogs (5-1, 1-1 SEC) hold two top-10 times as McCulloh ranks second in the 1,000 freestyle and graduate Marie Schobel holds 10^th in the 200 backstroke. At the diving well, the team looks to continue a strong season that has seen five divers (Rhett Hopkins, Nolan Lewis, Kevin Li, Hannah Stumpf, and Meghan Wenzel) qualify for Zones on both springboards.

Following this weekend's meet, Georgia will close out the calendar year with a trip to Kentucky on Monday, Dec. 19 at 10 a.m. in Lexington.
