Bulldogs Set to Begin Play at ITA National Fall Championships

ATHENS, Ga. – Seniors Trent Bryde, Blake Croyder and Philip Henning will travel to San Diego, Calif. and represent the Georgia men's tennis team at the fifth annual Intercollegiate Tennis Association National Fall Championships, running from November 2-6.
 
The round of 32 starting tomorrow will mark the first round of the event. Croyder's initial opponent will be Louisville's Natan Rodrigues at 2:45 p.m. ET, while Henning, who earned a No. 5-8 seed, will play Matisse Bobichon of VCU at noon. In doubles, Bryde and Henning also earned a No. 5-8 seed and will take on Mississippi State's Carles Hernandez and Nemanja Malesevic at 8:30 p.m.
 
Two Bulldogs earned spots in the singles portion of the event. Croyder made the field after winning the singles finals at the ITA Southeast Regional in Tallahassee, while Henning made it after finishing as the runner-up at the ITA All-American Championships in singles.
                       
Bryde and Henning finished as the runners-up in the doubles draw at the ITA Southeast Regional, earning a spot doubles tournament at the Barnes Tennis Center, also earning a No. 5-8 seed. The pair has started the season 5-1 together. 

The ITA Fall Championships is considered the top fall event in college tennis, with the top 32 singles players and doubles teams in the sport competing for its championship. 

The field is comprised of 24 regional selections, two ITA wild cards and an ITA Cup wild card. The remaining spots in singles is for the Milwaukee Tennis Classic wild card and the four ITA All-American semifinalists. In doubles, the last spots are for ITA All-American champion and finalist and three at-large selections.
